Earn A Buck Poll In the NRC agenda for the May 18th meeting the IDNR Fish and Wildlife has stated there would be a “consideration of implementation of an earn-a-buck program.” See..www.in.gov/nrc/2354.htmUnder agenda item #8 - Comprehensive Fish and Wildlife Rule Enhancement Project: Response to suggested substantive amendments; Administrative Cause No. 08-061D It states - 4. Review of all deer hunting seasons and bag limits and consideration of implementation of an earn-a-buck program. The DNR’s proposals will be in the deer rule amendment package for preliminary adoption in July. Considering that an early archery killed antlerless counts for both seasons, what are your feelings on an Earn A Buck program? Yes. Earn A Buck on one buck Yes. Earn A Buck on a SECOND buck ONLY Yes. Earn A Buck on each of TWO bucks. (Two antlerless - two bucks) No. I don’t want any Earn A Buck at all No Opinion Thanks..

Yes.
Earn A Buck on a SECOND buck ONLY. Make that tag a combo tag. The second buck and another doe for say.. $35.
That'll work.

IMO the only people the OBR will benefit will be the ones with private property to hunt.

I voted for second buck as EAB .That said I would love to have second buck back no strings attached .But I know that is something that must be slowly earned back with a preponderance of evidence that it has not changed the harvest of mature bucks which IMHO it will not. With the IDNR edict of take more does out they need to bring the better hunters back out later in the season with the caveat an EAB for a second with a doe tag attached to the buck for one price of say $35.00 . This will IMHO lead us back to a second buck for all who want it as it was and those hunters will once again be out there taking those combo tags and taking bucks but lots and lots of does .
By the way you will likely never see this poll on anyother Indiana site as I beleive that it would turn out much like our poll in the results with just a few more don't change it votes I beleive that they would have a strong vote for second buck EAB even from staunch OBR followers. What a shame

for the life of me I just dont understand all the BS on a second buck or for that matter the first one whats the big deal on killing a buck , they might not taste good, is it a macho thing that to be a man you have to kill two bucks? ? It is part of hunting its fun it is a manly sort of thing about hunting ,and if some fella on his 100 acres shoots two bucks a few miles away from you on your 100 acres you simply will not be affected by it .So shoot two your self if you want if you don't want to shoot a buck then don't or shoot one that is the great thing about personal choice within the law it belongs to you so you don't have to push you personal hunting dos and donts on anyone else and what others kill within the law should never affect you personally in your woods or mind since it was not you. JMHO if you dont want to kill two bucks fine but dont begrudge someone who does .I love to eat deer meat I also like nice antlers funny the bigger the bucks the more great eating meat there is and that antler is there to. ;D

Earn the 2nd buck if that is my only chance to get back to tagging 2 bucks per season.

I think if there is the EAB on a second buck it should be county specific and can only be gained in overpopulted counties with an antlerless qouta of 8.

It's the antlers that get people jacked up about hunting. All deer hunting debates revolve around antlers no matter what the actual topic.

I vote "buy a Kentucky tag next year and let Indiana do with their herd what they wish." The only money they get from me is the 20-something dollars I have to pay to use my boat at Patoka.

Question for the "No" voters.
If the state did have an EAB on the second buck and you downed a buck in the early archery season would you attempt to take a doe and then go buck hunting during the gun seasons or just quit? IOW - Even if you don't want an EAB on the second buck would you particpate if the state had such a thing?

If Indiana's goal is to reduce the herd, then a logical choice is "EAB on the second buck only"

Just give me back the bow tag buck with no strings attached! Numbers say 5000 hunters took two bucks. LTL holders kills 60% of the doe so any trickery to get more doe killed is probably not going to work. Hunters will and do kill only so many doe for meat and then quit! h.h.

I can go along EAB for the 2nd buck. ...... If that's the only way we can get back our "right" to take a second buck. for the life of me I just dont understand all the BS on a second buck or for that matter the first one whats the big deal on killing a buck , they might not taste good, is it a macho thing that to be a man you have to kill two bucks? ? It's the antlers that get people jacked up about hunting. All deer hunting debates revolve around antlers no matter what the actual topic. Hmmmm..... I thought we'd been having quite a few spirited debates over an additional antlerless seasons because of the overpopulation problem in some areas.

But with the antler-centric atmosphere these days, it's unlikely to happen. I can see the earn a second buck. NOT the first. If you pay your money you ought to be able to shoot anything. I'm afraid antler restrictions are the next gimmick coming.
