Long time lurker. I was drawn for Big Oaks firearms on 11/2. I am not asking for any hot spots to hunt. I am interested in any tips for hunting Big Oaks.
Thanks

Pack a lunch and stay all day. If you can get close to a uxo zone don't walk to far into the woods. That is defeating the purpose of getting an area close to the closed area.
Walk in find a nice tree either climb or sit down, then after it is light look around and see if there is a better position to be in. I did this last year and killed a buck and a doe within 20 minutes of the move.

You got a great draw date. Look at aerial maps, look for drainages, linear habitat, edges. Pick an area and a few spots in that area that look good, you need backups. Move away from other hunters if you have to. Bring a climber and hunt as long as they let you. Don't get frustrated with other hunters. Most of the guys in areas that border no-hunt are going to line the boundaries, make that work for you.

Do they allow walk ins during the week if there are any no shows? Or is it strictly by draw only?

They allowed walk-ins for no-shows a couple years ago, I would call first. I met a hunter in my area that year that was local and would show up and stand in line and get in every time. You end up being one of the last ones to get out and get no choice on area, most likely. I know the guy I ran into was not in his area.

North, North, North. I score deer for the Hoosier Record Book and routinely score several big deer that come from the North. Last years biggest was a 182" with another 176" from the same area. Good Luck!

Pack a lunch and rain gear and sit as long as possible. Good luck!
