my biggest is my avatar scored 167 2/8 and weighed 238 field dressed. not much of a story, I had never seen him before the morning I had shot him. I was asleep and woke to leafs rustling and the pounding of hooves on the ground to see a doe fly by my stand about 10 yds. away.
As I watched her going out of sight i heard him coming in the woodlot. his tongue was almost to the ground, that doe had run him to death (Literally) he offered a broadside shot at a fast walk and 10 yds. froom my stand. pretty much a bang flop. he didn't make it 5 foot.

I also have a 171 3/8 he is in the center of the wall with several 130 to 150 in deer around him ,but he only netted 159 7/8 he had 10 points and a 22 inch spread and weighed in at 24 3 # FD both were 5.5 years old and heavily in the seeking phase of the rut as most bucks I take are . The hunt was a simple tree stand shot on a evening hunt at 23 yards and it was over in seconds . Both were killed on Oct 31 and Nov 1st respectively . Attachments:

My biggest deer was my first deer. Second weekend of firearms season 2006. I was hunting a buddy's farm in Columbus In. Had heard him on the hill behind me, and would just see parts of a leg or neck through holes in the trees. I watched him for maybe 30 minutes and thought he had turned and gone up the hill. I hadn't heard or seen anything out of him for 30 minutes so i thought he was gone. So i had drank me a cup of coffee and took a leak. Then smoked a cigarette ( that's when i was still smoking ) and had just put it out. Then i heard him moving again. right down the hill he came. Not on any trail that had been a well traveled one though. 40 yards out he stopped and afford me a broad side shot , so i took it. I thought i lost him. He took off like a bat outta hell. a quarter of a mile later i found him. I thought he was a big 8 pointer when i shot him , boy was i wrong. He ended up being an 11 pointer and field dressed out at 220 lbs. Attachments:

This is my sons first deer it was 10 years old it was 8 years ago .It was opening day of gun and my oldest and I were tagged out since the opening day of bow on bucks . So I sat with the Vid cam and hot coffee keeping him company and filmed his hunt he was elated he shot it fallowing a doe at 11:15 am. It was a 9 pt 212 # FD and scored 152 4/8 and is also in the book along side my entry in the book . He has not stopped either he has taken a good size buck every year but one he had his tonsils out and missed gun season and just passed at hunting the rest of the year it was rough on him . And this is my oldest sons biggest bow kill taken this year the day before gun opener .He shot it from a tree stand at 31 yards and it was checking some does that were just hanging out eating leaves and acorns in front of him it was 8 points 206# FD with 138 1/8 in. He has several nice bow and gun bucks but this is the one he is proudest of since he took it with a bow and it was one day before gun. To give you some prespective my son is 6'4" 230# and was 19 . My biggest buck was from last season. I was hunting from my uncles old ladder stand. (Now my uncle is short, round, and afraid of heights, so the ladder stand is only 10' tall with an old white metal lawn chair strapped to the top of it. But, it is in a great spot, and I killed 2 deer from that lawn chair last year.) It was early one morning and I had seen several deer, including 2 smaller bucks, when I saw this guy walking up the hill towards my direction. He was on a trail that went right in front of me. He had his head down and was on a steady walk, I think he was headed for the pond for a drink. He was at 10 yards broadside when I shot. When he took off, all I saw was red everywhere. I had double lunged him. He didn't go far. I climbed down and went right to him since I heard him go down. He has double brow tines and incredible mass. He had broke part of one tine off. I did a skull mount on it.

Am I your uncle? I ask because I'm also short, round and afraid of heights! My stands are all homemade 10' ladder stands. I do have a commercially made ladder stand, a 15'er!....but I only use 2 sections. ;d 10' works well for me. You just have to be religious about your scent, and really watch when you move. A have been busted a VERY few times because of my precautions. One plus is not having to worry too much about the height messing up your shot due to angle.

The largest Buck I've harvested (pictured) weighed 200 pounds field dressed and was a 9-pointer. I took this Buck in 2001 first day of Gun Season in Indiana with 12 gauge Slug. My second largest Buck, I took in Colorado back in 1987, which weighed 187 pounds and had 8-points.

Not my biggest racked buck, but one of the heaviest at 187 #'s dressed weight. Also one of my favorites as he was killed only 1/2 mile away from my front door on a 15 minute hunt! For size comparison you have to way 200 #'s to play on the teeter-tooter with the guy standing next to the deer!
