That deer is somewhat bloated but that immense size is not all gas. What a loss.

The sad thing is that they will have the horns mounted and thump their chest like they've really done something. Losers...

I don't see any bullet holes in the deers belly/chest or its right side, ground look pretty clean too. Might be a little blood around its mouth but that is all I can see. I too would like to know where shot? It was a large bodied deer. 250 lbs? Definitely a shame.

It was shot in the chest on the other side that is not showing. One of my hunters found it and he didn't try to dig the bullet out. It's private property and it is along a road that is moderately traveled. We normally loose a deer or two each year there, so it's not a big shocker. The area is well known for drug activities and road hunting. I think it's better than it used to be, but still bad when you loose one of this caliber.

The deer looks very bloated to me, like it was dead longer than just overnight. Was it possible it was dumped there?

its very unlikely this deer was dumped there. it was a chest shot so it should have made for an easy recovery and it wasnt field dressed. not too many people are going to load up a deer this size into a vehicle drive it to another farm take it back out then drag it over the flood wall that runs along the road there just to cut off his horns. that seems like alot of work and a big extra chance for them to take to get caught. when if they did dump it there, there are plenty of ditches for them to dump it into or they could have drove 2 miles the other way and dumped into the river off a bridge.

Good luck..you will get no help in this county. Ive called multiple times because of meth labs, and trespassers. We called about 3 weeks ago when about 8 hispanics were trespassing...NO response at all. Funny, Im sure I will get a call to duck hunt our property this year. The answer will be no... Im over it all, and will take care of things myself from now on.

Good luck getting any help in any county...I've called countless times on Tresspasser in Indiana and never have got anyone to investigate..They write it in their little log books and that's it...The first thing they ask is " Is there signs visible from where they accessed the property...and I say yes and they respond we'll send someone to check it out...I waited 2 hours and they never showed... called back and they say " The Sheriff deputy couldn;t find the property" where is it?...It's a joke..might as well deal with it yourself.

We are on good terms with our CO. He will come when called, always has. Seems to me he's as dedicated as they come. Can't and won't say anything negative about what they do for us. Incidents like this are almost impossible to stop, I know that. We have had trouble with the County Sheriffs office wanting to come out for dopers and when we find plants and meth evidence but that is another story.
GD- Yes, it could have been dumped. Don't know why it wasn't skull capped or cape if it was a legal kill though.
Don't know 100% for sure it was a 10, but we have or had one in that same area.

Think he might had been hit by a car on the highway, someone cut the rack off and the county dumped it there...
If someone poached it, you would think they would have took the time to remove the skull cap with both antlers attatched...looks like a roadkill..I seen one like that just yesterday on the side of the highway where someone must of been in a hurry and jumped out of their vehicle and just cutt the rack right at the bases...

So you think the county meat wagon picked up the deer in the middle of the night and dumped on our farm under cover of darkness so that nobody would know how their tax dollars are being spent? I think your on to something there. Or on something? Got any theories as to why the blood was still fresh or as to why the deer was bleeding out the mouth and nose, which is consistent with a lung shot?

I have some experience with what ridgerunner is saying. I am the Street Supervisor for a hamilton co. city and we have problems with the State Highway guys dumping roadkills in our area. We get called about deer being hit only to discover they have been dumped at the location. I actually have a guy we hired from the state highway who not only confirmed that this happens but where the main dump spots are. Not saying this is the case with this buck just saying it does happen.

Consistent with lung shot..or a 2000 pound vehicle traveling 55mph that jelloed his lungs on impact...that's a theory.. nobody is " On anything"..I'm offering a couple scenarios...why you got get personal?...can't stand the thought the deer may not have been poached.....?Sounds like you already made up your mind...next time you see a dead deer on the highway jump out and see if it's doesn't have blood coming out of the nose...That's about the most idiotic theory I've ever heard..because it had blood coming out the nose, it was shot in the lungs...lol...Good one.. Maybe you're On something pal....
