I have been kicking around the idea of getting one but have not hunted out of one since the ole Baker days back in the early 80's.
I'm looking for some help from my HI brothers, which ones do you feel are great choices and which ones should I avoid?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I like just about anything made by Summit. Light, secure and comfortable. They also have great customer service if you ever need it.

Just got a Summit Viper from Cabela's on special last month (that I took that big buck out of). It did not have the right backpack strap with it. Cabelas had to send a whole new climber due to the insurance liability but other than that I love this climber-it's light, easy to adjust and very comfortable to be in. It did take a cordless drill to install some of the pieces and I added a piece of pipe insulation on the foot rest to keep it a little quieter when folding it up. I did work up my own safety rope for around the tree but that's just me being stubborn from an arborist/tree climbing standpoint

Without question, Summit Viper!! You can hunt longer, it is light, and very well constructed. I have buddies with some of the other brands and there is no comparison in my opinion. I have 8 ladder stands on the land I own and I actually avoid them most of the time and use my climber because of the comfort difference.

Look into Treewalker treestands. Purchased one lately and very happy with it. Never had a summit, but like everyone else I hear great things about them. I went for the treewalker because it a little lighter than others.

I wouldn't rule out Lone Wolf if you can afford it. I've had my hand climber for 9 seasons now and replace the belts every 2-3 seasons and just finally replaced the locking .cams this year. 14 pounds, flat, silent, invisible, deadly

Lone Wolf Alfa Combo Climber. Folds flat, sets up easily, climbs easily, quiet, safe. Non skid platform, even wet and muddy. Carries easier than a Summit, Yes I have tried a summit. Since it doesn't fold flat it is hard to maneuver thru tight places.

Summit. Try the bushmaster or openshot for bowhunting.

Summit Viper. It's like sitting in your favorite LazyBoy in the woods.
