Well i was able to save my season tonight. My brothers buddy took us to a property he got permission on and I took a nice big doe. Meat in the freezer. I only seen 2 deer tonight though.

Been a fairly good Deer Season for me. I shot my largest Buck todate but really had to work hard for it! Most of the Deer stayed deep in the woods and most of them moved during the night.

Had my chance yesterday. As I started to walk to my stand I jumped a doe in the yard. I don't do yard shots. Saw nothing from my stand.

id thank that buddy colts..sweet Yeah i did. He took my brother on Thursday evening and they seen 10, including a small 4 pointer. My brother missed on a doe that night. I got mine at about 80 yards out with light running out very fast. Interesting story on the property too. It's a property i actually hunted 3 years ago and my uncle hunts there from time to time as well. My uncle was the one who got me permission, but with his kid now into hunting he didn't want me out there until his boy got a deer, which never seemed to happen. Nice ? They even used my stand i still had out there. Turns out my brothers friend is actually a distant relative of the landowner and he said we were welcome out there any time

Weird year for me..took two bucks with bow. One in Illinois and one in Indiana..hardly any doe sightings..few of my buddies reported not seeing near as many deer this year...I think the weather and the corn had alot to do with that...Strange year though..Hopefully next year will be a banner year with the lower numbers of bucks harvested overall...lots of big boys lived this year, and should be better next year...IMO...

another year without a single buck sighting. Spent the last 2.5 days hitting it hard with nothing to show. Only saw deer where I hunted outside of legal shooting light.

LOL this crazy year gets even crazier. I went tonight to my main property where my sightings have been so bad and we have had all the problems with the neighbors. I got out there bout 3 and noticed my brother had already left. I call him to see whats going on and he tells me the neighbors are in there target shooting. So i think "great", but decide to try it anyway. I sit on a hill in the corner of the woods not expecting much. About 5pm i look out along the fence row and for the first time all year along that particular line here comes 3 does, they jump in the woods at 10 yards and nearly run me over. So i pull out my cell phone and text my brother about him leaving and me seeing deer. As i'm texting him, i hear something in front of me but think it's a squirrel. I finish texting, send my message, look up and theres a buck 40 yards in front of me. He looked at me and i thought he was gonna bolt, but he didnt. I shot and he ran 40 yards and fell over. 2 deer in the last 2 nights after having a horrendous year for the most part. He's not the big buck i was after but thats ok, i'll remember this hunt for a long time. Here's the doe from last night. And here is the buck from tonight

Thanks Woody. It was tough indeed, but the freezer is full now. I was worried that would not be the case a few days ago.

It has been a tough year... I've seen a pretty good number of deer, but just not the one I wanted to shoot. The best deer that I had within shootable range was this guy. I had him dead to rights three times..I just coukld not pull the crossbow trigger. I saw three good bucks in Illinois but they were all out of shotgun range. First time in a long, long time I have not put meat in the freezer. I'll actually sleep a little better knowing this ;D Ranch or Italian for that tag salad

Rule of Thumb:
Want to see deer, go squirrel hunting! Want to see squirrels, go deer hunting!
