Just wanted to see if anyone else here hunts for arrowheads/Indian relics in their spare time. I have about 90 or so "case " pieces and close to 1000 "brokens". Most of my collection comes from Henderson Co., KY; near the Ohio and/or Green rivers. Here are a couple of pics.

Most were found by me in Madison Co. Indiana 20 yrs ago. The 5 nicer ones were given to me from a Great Uncle who lived in Barren Co. KY found on his tobacco farm. I did find one down there, he had buckets of awsome artifacts. My Dad still has the big case displayed at his house. It has all Madison and Hamilton Co stuff in it. Been itching to stride through the mud lately. There was a spell where most farmers didn't even break soil untill spring. Been more and more plowing in the fall. The mold board plow was the best though!!!

Most of these were found 20+ yrs ago and yet when I look at the really nice ones I still remember what field, how and who was with me.

Very nice points guys! I've got the itch too, and I hope to get out this week and get a little muddy after the rain.

I love to arrowhead hunt. I'm ready for that plow. Waiting on 80 acres of setaside that gets chiseled plowed this spring. Do you ever have any luck in creek beds? I live near the three reservoirs and several people hunt the edges during the winter drawdown. I think this was how the "Bickel" cache was found. Nice collection. Keep walking.

I have found them in washout while hunting other game. In most creeks that I know, there is more sediment laid down then eroded away, basically covering up any artifacts. Most of my finds were close to the river but always in fields and we would concentrate on hill tops and slopes. The low areas get the topsoil run into them effectively covering up the artifacts.

You know...now bear with me here... how many hunters are there now VRS how many were there back in the stone head hunting days ?! I haven't found hundreds of metal broadheads laying around in fields and woods. So did they shoot a lot or did they just not pick up any arrows they shot or... ?

Stone tools don't erode away, stone tools were around many times longer then metal has been used and if you are not looking you wont find them. Arrow head hunting is just like hunting any other game. Some days are better then others and you log a lot of muddy miles for just a few pieces. Youd be amazed at what you do find in plowed fields with the closest current residents are over 1 mile away. Glass marbles, door knobs, old China, slugs....

I've only ever found one and I'm still bitter about it. Was a kid walking the creek beds like I always do and it was after a big washout. Found a perfect arrowhead just sitting there on a bunch of creek gravel. Brought it back home and dad wanted to see it. I went to hand it to him and he dropped it on the concrete floor. Ya.
Now, my uncle Bill who's now passed had just an amazing collection of Native People's artifacts. He also had a bunch of Civil War stuff too. He had thousands of arrowheads and other goodies I don't know the name of he'd collected. He was too handicapped when I was around to take me out where he'd gone. I think it was mostly down south.

Varmint I found one a few years ago, my oldest son at the time was about 4 and full of "energy" lol I was to meet them for supper. right before I went to meet them I found one of 2 stone points I've ever found and was real excited. I walked into the restaurant and showed the fam. Josh wanted to look at it...dropped it on the floor and broke it in half ! I could NOT beleive it

Yah 7x, you don't forget stuff like that LOL!!! After dad broke it I tried to glue it back together, but that just ticked me off more because it looked stupid. I think I was 10 or 11. Oh well.

We have found 5 or 6 on our place. I found an old wagon wheel in our woods also. You can see where it was forged together in one place. I have a chart showing the different shapes of arrow heads and their ages. I got it from a state archeologist. If anyone is interested PM me and I can email a copy to you.

A buddy of mine dropped this one on his hardwood floor 3 days after I found it. I got lucky. No marks. I don't let many people hold my "gooduns" anymore. By the way...anybody hunt these around Delaware Co.(Muncie)?
