My buddy and I did the Polar Bear ride this morning on our BMW motorcycles - 7 degrees. We should have been on ATVs. It got a little crazy on some snowy patches. Crazier yet - He is at the ripe age of 70 years old.

I got caught riding home in ~3" of snow when I was living off campus at Purdue... 4.5 miles of 2 tires and 2 feet dragging... "Not as fun as advertized"
I'll ride to work (40 miles one way, mostly interstate) at 15F, though, as long as the roads are clear... I'll ride shorter distances down to 5F or so, but not 45 minutes at 75mph...
This was all before I accidently got a knee down on the ramp from I70W to Ronald Reagan Pkwy South, on the way home from work the Monday after I did a trackday on the Blackbird, and miffed the leg zipper on my A* 360 commutning suit (which, as it happens, does NOT have knee sliders like my SPIDI leathers do)... Rockin' the old Joe Rocket jacket and Firstgear HT -AIR- pants for now, and 28-30F is about as I comfortable go with those... Mesh overpants don't hold a lot of heat, even if the Gore-Tex liner does stop most of the wind... Plus, the air coming up between the coat and the pants is fun...

Danf had a pic of what looked like an older motorcycle with sidecar on the interstate on their way back to NH after Christmas-I'm thinking the temp was about the same but I don't think there was snow like in your pic.
OK Mike I just gotta know-which direction from campus? Just kind of curious whether we were neighbors or not.

May even have been looking at your old house when we were goosehunting with Quakingtim and Doug W last week. I'm on out west on 26.

The house is on Stratus Drive, on the inside of the corner... Yellow with a wood picket fence... Hasn't been my sister's house for ~4 years, though... Mike

I don't remember the make of the bike, but it may have been a slightly older BMW, not sure. Definitely not what I would consider a "touring" bike though. There was no snow on the road, but there was plenty on the ground- we were going through Buffalo at the time. There was not one, but TWO bikes with sidecars. I don't remember the temperature, but if it was 30 degrees it would have been warm.

Still pretty much the same... Now much easier to get in this country... www.imz-ural.comMike

This is the pic I took with my wife's Blackberry and posted to her Facebook "wall". Not the best pic for sure... There's two bikes in the pic, but the front one is hard to see.
