My dream hunt would be a tie the top three hunts would be: 1. Hunting eye level for whitetail with my wife and seein her take her first buck with a bow ! And being lucky enough to catch it on video for a life long memory to share with all the world. 2. Takin my oldest son on his first deer hunt and to just see his face and reaction when a nice buck comes within spittin distance of him, and then to see him close the deal !
3. Same as above just a few yrs later with my youngest son !!!
I have to say when it comes to deer huntin I am truly blessed to have a wonderful wife that enjoys huntin and fishin as much as I do and that makes my outdoor adventures that much more worth while. I am also blessed to have two lil boys that even though they are at such young ages (4 and 3) they have such an interest, respect, and desire for hunting that all my future hunting days will never be w/o a hunting buddy ! Thank you Lord for all my blessings !

One more day in the woods with my grandpa. I wouldn't even care about killing a deer.

I've been very blessed to have already done a bunch of elaborate hunts, and have taken most species of North American big game. As it stands now, I'd like to knock off work in September and hunt multiple states and provinces for muleys and whitetails, one after the other, through about year end. Whack about six nice bucks in a season, and hunt for about four months straight.

Guess I already did it. Went with my son, best friend and his son, to RSA for a plains game hunt, in July 2008. If I can get my butt back to work, my 2nd dream hunt is to go back to Africa, with my son and hunt Cape Buffalo. Found out that you don't want to dream of hunting Africa once, cause you'll wanna keep going back.....

Back to Namibia for me to hunt zebra, impala, black wildebeest, kudu, and cheetah with a bow! May even get a crack at a leopard with a rifle permit. A lot of guys won't even consider going, but once you go you will be hooked for life! There is nowhere else on the face of this earth that you can see as many game animals in one place at one time. Elk and mule deer hunting doesn't even come close. It would be like sitting in Montana some where and have herds of antelope, whitetails, mule deer, elk, and bison walk by your stand all in one afternoon with a cougar thrown in for good measure. Africa number is number one followed by elk as number two.

haha ..... That reminds me .... i need to dig that out of the safe and get it sent off to stratton customs for a trigger job. A little stiff for ya? It never bugged me but I didn't hunt with it much. Killed a few does and 1 buck with it but usually had my bow with me.

Well ..... I did a little playing around this past summer with 3 encore frames. Shooting from a bench, using the same barrel/scope/round .... the only difference in the 3 encore frames was that one of them had a trigger job done.
I was able to cut 100 yard group sizes in half when i used the frame that had a trigger job.
Stratton charges $65 and the trigger will be set to a nice crisp 2.75lbs.
I dont think it matters at all when it comes to actually hunting .... but if you are working up a load from a bench I think the trigger is tied with the optics for the most important piece of the puzzle.

Well good luck with her, I do miss seeing her around the safe when I open it. I did fill her spot with a nice new DPMS AR, but it still needs a scope.

My dream hunt would be any hunt with my dad. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, but died when I was 10 years old. I never got to hunt with him, but did inherit his passion for it. top answer so far IMO. X2. If I could, I'd make it happen for ya. I would love to do one more hunt with my Grandpa. He's been gone for decades now, but reading these posts brings back some great memories. He sat me down many times at the kitchen table in the cabin off the banks of the Kankakee river near Demotte, Indiana in the early 60's teaching me about gun safety. I was so young I don't remember every detail, but I recall a lot of info like it was yesterday. He would sit at the table with one of his guns, Coleman lantern glowing bright, and have me break it down, clean it, reassemble it and then demonstrate safety techniques (like handing him the gun before stepping over a sawhorse to simulate crossing a fence). We did this many times before I ever went afield with him. I loved sitting around the fire on Saturday and Sunday evenings listening to him and his Steelworking buddies share their stories. Great stories... especially waterfowl hunts. I can still see the flocks of geese flying in the southern sky as the stories rolled on for hours...and then my day came to carry his Model II Browning 12 gauge and take my first bird. I'll never forget that first hunt and many after that. I would love to do one more hunt with my Grandpa. It could be any hunt, but I would especially enjoy "guiding" him on an upland hunt with my dogs in the morning and then sit next to him on an evening deer hunt. The deer hunt would be extra special because we never had that opportunity. Grandpa always talked as though he would have loved to hunt deer since they just weren't to plentiful back in the fifties and sixties. GREAT POST.

any hunt that has the possibility to get ugly. kill or be killed type animals such as a grizzly, lion cape buffalo or maybe an elephant. got to make sure your shot counts on animals like that at close range would be a great thrill.
