I went and filled one out before I had read down this far. Now I feel like it was a giant waste of time. I hope someone from the DNR reads this sight and they redo the survey in a more secure way. I'm afraid this will skew the issues and we will be stuck with more things such as the OBR that only a more vocal minority support. I think that the IDNR had a good idea, maybe they are not aware that anything on the net can be answered by anyone on the net. I see where a few people are recruiting votes on nationAl forums from out of state bowhunters to come out for moving the gun seasons and no more crossbows IN OUR STATE. Somehow the IDNR needs to limit it to in state hunters. I firmly believe that they will not get any meaningful data out of this survey. I hope that the realize that. I've read that on other sites as well. Out of state (and anti-xbow) bowhunters that want to move the gun season out of November yet keep the cheap over the counter tags for non-residents available. I wish the state had required a lifetime hunting license ID number or driver's license number for HOOSIER residents to take this survey. The data is skewed now, but quite frankly, I think the decisions are made already anyway. This was just a way to appease those who will complain about the changes and claim they weren't involved.....

I took it yesterday. Is it just me but when I hear talk about moving the Gun season later and making it shorter is one group just trying to have the whole rut to themselves? I see an antlerless gun hunt mid September and mid October and gun season being opened the Monday after Thanksgiving for 1 week followed by muzzle loader for a week. Tag structure remains the same with doe tags reduced in price. What do you all think?

I saw that too. Same guys beating the band for this and all the while saying that they are not pitting one hunter group against another. BULL!!I wish the state had required a lifetime hunting license ID number or driver's license number for HOOSIER residents to take this survey. Yes, they needed to make sure that this stuff did not happen. It will be skewed to who laid the rail. The data is skewed now, but quite frankly, I think the decisions are made already anyway. This was just a way to appease those who will complain about the changes and claim they weren't involved..... I agree. ....

I took the survey and was very happy to see my idea of the sportsman's license pack. I turned in that idea last year when they were asking for hunting regulation ideas. I have a lifetime license, but I know a lot of people do not and it seemed like a good way for the DNR to raise revenue and to help people who like to hunt with different weapons throughout the season to save some money considering lifetime licenses are no longer available.

Yup! Probably a waste of time... It sounds like a screwed-up mess of skewed data.

I don't deer hunt so I really don't want to vote on something that doesn't concern me. Maybe that is the wrong attitude, hope this dosen't hurt anybody's feelings. But I wouldn't want someone voting on what I do, and they don't do it.

WOW - ELITIST BS everywhere.....calling it a crossgun because it has a trigger. None of them seem aware of the cons of using a crossbow compared to a 80% let off compound bow...WOW

Guys and gals,
I did my duty.
1) I filled out the survey
2) I mass emailed all memebrs of this site to fill out teh survey the way taht they felt it shodul be. I did not do liek some others on other sites that aksed anoyone on there to vote fro what they wanted. I did not ask anyone on thsi site to vote this way or that way.
Dirty shame that this was not just Hoosiers casting ballots.

Very dirty indeed but two can play at this perhaps we colectively go to say the differnt gun hunting sites nation wide as well as trhe biggies like B&C or remington or all the gun hunting boards on the sites like safari club!! Just a thought!

I agree that the only rallying should be to get folks to participate in the survey and for them to state what they believe and not what is being done elsewhere on other sites. This is supposed to be about best methods of herd reduction not how can we grow bigger antlers...

Fits well with the guys taking it...lol . What do you have against crossbow's for people under 65? Nothing if left set up the way it is,or if a guy has a disability or injury. I guess I could ask what do the crossbow guys have against practicing all summer and becoming proficient with a real bow but I think I know the answer so I don't ask. Aside from all this, surely you and I are both way too intelligent to get into this conversation ;D
