I will be in area 39 for the last hunt of the season. Anyone have any experience with this area? Just a broad overview will be fine.

I hunted area 38 for 3 years in a row and seen alot of deer coming thru from over that way but I really couldnt say where to hunt in 39 since I never hunted it, but there is a creek bed that seemed to run thru the majoirty of area 38 and the deer trailed close to the creekbed, if I remember correctly there is a good size thicket that runs along the side of the creekbed as well so Im sure that 39 has about the same topography or atleast part of it so if you can locate that creekbed and bedding area ( thicket ) setting up close to the borders of the other area that I used to hunt you should see some good deer moving thru there, but then again its been several yrs since I hunted there so the pattern may be completely different now, with that said though every yr I hunted in 38 I could dang near set my watch on them heading from up that way down the edge of the thicket and creekbed around 8:45 - 9:15 every morning LOL
Good Luck to you ! ~ INDeerhunter ~

Well, I have hunted 39 for the last 6 years, and have killed 6 or 7 deer in there. I have hunted just off of the 2 track that runs between 38 and 39. If I were hunting it this year as dry as it is I would go all the way to the end of it. There is a big pond/small lake where they released river otters. I would say that they will be going to that water sometime during the day. I have also hunted by the in 2 different spots along the road between 39 and 40. There is a large creek with a parking spot close. Walk in right there if it is wet enough to have water. The road between those two (not H road) is also a good spot by the uxo area, but if it is really wet this area will be swampy, and if we have had enough rain to make it muddy you will really want a 4 x 4 even on the 2 track. I have killed deer in all of those spots the only place that I didn't see any deer is up close to H road.
