they are mostly stand hunting. maybe a few spot and stalk or kills on the way to the stand. they will never kill all of them that are there. this place is truely loaded with hogs. we killed 35 to 40 last year in 4 trips down there. pm me or timex for info on a hunt if you wanna go. we can hunt them all the way up to there turkey season and probally after too. after turkey season it will be mostly night hunting.

We hunt them, mainly in stands. I prefer to stalk them, but a lot of times, it's almost impossible to get in there with them. We do not use dogs in anyway. We try to make head shots, and put them down so that they won't get into the swamp. If they do, recovery is only about 50%. All of the hogs we kill are processed, depending on the guy who kills it on what they take home with them. Sometimes it's just the quarters and loins and sometimes it's whole hog. This year, there is hundreds of hogs there, but the water level in the swamp has them holed up in there more than ever. Still most guys will kill some on a trip. Had two out of seven this trip that drew blanks but other killed several. It's a flip of the coin on where you hunt and what stand to start from. We also killed a few after dark with lights and night vision. This trip, I passed up shots nearly every session. Saw well over 100 hogs. The youngster in the photo Woody posted in Brennan K. from southern Indiana. Had an all-Hoosier cast this trip. He and I teamed up Sunday morn. as he had not seen one yet from stand. We went to a box blind at day light. Soon after we had 2 slip past us before we could get a shot off. In the direct that they went, we heard several squeals and grunts, so we decided to abandon the stand and try a stalk. We got to the area where the hogs had been, but they had went across a road into a dense area. We eventually found a small opening in the brush where a shallow creek went toward where the hogs were. Very slowly, we walked to with a few yards of the hogs but still could see meat. With a few grunts on a cal, the hogs seemed to switch directions and come our way. We got ready and finally saw the pigs about 20 yards in a small brushy opening headed to us. I wanted him to shoot before the broke into the clear so that they didnt see us and spook out. Brennan, shooting a muzzlle loader with 150 gr/ load, picked out a biggn and fired. He got the hog and his nose. Hogs scattered every direction. I picked out one and put it don with a 338 Federal and also got my nose in the process. We both rapidly reloaded, and shot another hog each. We ended up with 3 good boar hogs and gaint blacka nd white sow and I also killed a small blonde colored piglet to mount up because of the color phase. We had to quarter the big sow, and gut the boars to be able to get them to the road. That done, we went back the blind and retrieved out gear we had left there. I had shot a hog there the previous night, but he got up and took off before I could reload. So, I went to look for it while Brennan was getting his pack. Found it, or it found me. He was not a happy camper. Still alive, but with a broken back. I killed him and that made us with 4 boars for the morning, all of them real nice hogs and a gaint sow and one baby. Pretty cool hunt and Brennan did a wnderful job, both stalking and super fast reloading and excellent shooting. I'll post a few more pictures once I find my camera in my truck, it's a mess with stuff every where.
