The deer license bundle is defined in 312 IAC 9-3-2 as follows: (bb) “Deer license bundle" means a multiple privilege deer license that allows an individual to take one (1) antlered deer and two (2) antlerless deer in the:
(1) special youth; (2) archery; (3) firearms; (4) muzzleloader; and (5) special antlerless only seasons combined in one year in accordance with the provisions in 312 IAC 9-3-2, 312 IAC 9-3-3, and 312 IAC 9-3-4.
This deer license bundle provides a deer hunter with the ability to hunt in four (4) deer seasons (5 for non-resident youth) and take three (3) deer with one license purchase. Based on 2010 deer hunting license purchases, there were 24,432 resident license holders that purchased 3 or more deer hunting licenses, resulting in revenue in the amount of $242,661, at a cost of $72 for each hunter. If 3% of additional deer hunters that currently purchase only 1 or 2 deer licenses purchased the bundle, it would offset the anticipated loss of revenue for the license bundle to be sold at the reduced rate of $65.00.
The DNR would like to offer the same bundle to non-residents that would allow them to take one antlered deer and 2 antlerless deer at a reduced rate. At current prices, the cost of these three licenses would be $324. The DNR proposes that the non-resident bundle price be $295. By offering the deer license bundle at a reduced rate of $295 to non-residents, it would likely increase the number of non-residents who purchase multiple licenses and take additional antlerless deer in Indiana. The average license cost of surrounding states for a non-resident to take 3 deer (1 being antlered) is $292.

So....what about a crossbow, can you not use the bundle for your deer? To me "multiple privilege deer license" means in place of the other licenses I'd say that it is counted in Archery as that is the season crossbows will be used. I'll check for sure..

I would agree excepth that they have you buying a separate license if you archery hunt with a x-bow.

I would agree excepth that they have you buying a separate license if you archery hunt with a x-bow. Not "seperate". - a totally different license. Iow a crossbower does not buy a crossbow license AND an archery license to hunt the archery season. The bundle references seasons, not hunting tools.

Suppose you don't buy the bundle, and you wanted to hunt with both a conventional bow at times and a crossbow at times. You would need two $150 licenses = $300 for that one deer
With the bundle not mentioning the crossbow at all, and it is a separate license who knows if it's included or not?

I cant imagine a NR not buying the bundle if they were going to hunt with a vertical bow and a crossbow. $5 cheaper and they would get two doe tags thrown in... plus they could use a firearm or MZ later on.. I will find out, but I'm betting that the bundle covers all hunting tools as it refers to seasons.

Looks grey to me. With what they have posted, they have a archery season. No mention of a crossbow season, yet they have a crossbow license.

Sure, you are always going to have questions pop up, but gee whizz... Why not anticipate questions and answer them right under the reg? For instance, if Woody is correct-- put in parentheses, ("The bundle covers all legal hunting weapons as it refers to seasons.") It's no wonder folks are confused.

So glad I purchased the Lifetime License many years ago. These regs are already confusing for hunters.

What Timex brings up makes me wonder about the Urban Zone, still need a seperate license for that or will it be covered within the bundle license?

Why is it people still think crossbow is not archery equipment? Are they not? Has anyone seen the IDNR refer to the crossbow not being archery equipment? I haven't seen anything. I mean I use a crossbow now, and buy an archery tag. same as anyone that uses a crossbow in late archery. Not a seperate liscence now, why would it be this year?

If your not handicapped, you'll need a separate crossbow license to hunt with one.

If your not handicapped, you'll need a separate crossbow license to hunt with one. This shouldn't be a problem then, right? As long as you hunt with just a crossbow, or just with a compound, longbow, or recurve. I have a handicap permit. so, i should be good.

So, if your handicapped, you just buy the crossbow license instead, meaning if you wanted to or could, you couldn't hunt with a conventional bow.
