yesterday was bank holiday over here in the Uk so no bucks yesterday. This morning Tuesday i have seen two bucks and shot them both off vulnerable trees, so a good start to the week. The weather yesterday afternoon was fantastic as it is this morning, the forecast is rain coming in tomorrow for the rest of the week so i must make hay while the sun shines.
I actually had my little motorbike out yesterday for the first time this year, i went to see if my friendly farmer had planted any wheat to attract pigeons, it looks to me like last year the weather was so bad that they struggled to get it off, so this year it all seems to be just grass.
Right time for a rest then i may get my little trial bike out again, we will see. Bow practice first, them turkeys are going to be in serious trouble, hehehhehehe regards to all Billy

greetings Last week we endd up with four bucks and today i have managed to get one this evening. It has been heavy showers all day and a freezing wind, i expected to see nothing tonight but i have not seen as many deer in an outing for a long time, if i had been lucky i would of had three tonight. Part of the reason i did not get more is i have comedown with man flu and it is slowing me down. Don't laugh it is a very serious thing for the male species, i have put a link in this post to prove my point and you must show your lady partners so as they know what to look for and act accordingly. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EElqrgk4N0regards billy hehe

greetings Last week i felt really rough with man flu , so everything waws a major effort including coming onto the computer to post. Never mind i am getting over it now, anyway we had three Bucks last week i should of had at least six but things tend to go wrong when one is not well, stupid things like standing on a branch and being heard things like that. One was a very typical six pointer and worth a photograph to show you, this is good for the type of ground that these deer are on. Hope e have a better week next week . Regards Billy

Greetings Bit of an update, this is turning out to be a better week, it is slow in the mornings but they have been moving in the evenings. We have seven up to now I had a friend with me last night that I go on motorcycle rides with we were looking looking over a restock and a buck ran so.tracked him and he stopped broadside around two hundred yards away so I sent the bullet, he ran off my friend says you missed that one, I replied no I have not let's go and look as I always do. I found found a litte hair and not one spot of blood, but I knew I was bang on him, just no blood at all. I let ellie go and she came back telling me she had him so I followed her it was only four yards into the trees. And here it was stone dead, the bullet had gone through lime a needle, it just shows always check and have faith in one's own ability. Time for a rest before this evening hunt. Regards Billy

greetings Last week we ended up with 7 bucks nothing at all special but all off the cull. i ended up with a sty in the eye which has been very painful but i just had to man up and get on with it, hehe Last Friday my friend came north from Derby to visit me and drop some gear i bought from a man who for some reason had given up shooting, one article i bought was a harness leather gun sleeve for 75 pound over here it is 300 pound to buy new so i had to have it. On Monday and Tuesday it was another bank holiday so While my friend was here i took him onto my private ground looking for a trophy buck, and what a buck he got. He has been coming over 25years and this is the best buck he has shot up here and a lovely animal it is. I took some photos with my phone but i have not got them onto photo bucket yet to see what they are like. If they are any good i will post then over the week end, failing that i will ask my friend to forward one taken with his camera. Right this short week i have shot two bucks, things seem to of gone quiet with the bucks and i suspected that the does had started kidding, my suspicions were confirmed this morning when i seen the first kid of the season out feeding with mum. So i am not expecting a lot of bucks for the next week or two, nature keeps them away while the does are kidding as they tend to get aggressive towards the kids and once i shot one trying to kill a kid. Also this morning on the way hunting i came upon a large fox cub i shot in the field, three small holdings around the field have been getting hens killed so i hope i have nailed the culprit with the 308 time will tell. Ok that is a bit of a catch up as to what has being going on here, i will try those photos over the weekend and hopefully They will be ok to post, sorry for the delay in posting but the truth is the sty in the eye was that sore i could not look at a bright computer screen to see what i was doing. regards BILLY

As promised the buck my friend shot while visiting me As good as one is going to get up here and the best he has shot anywhere in 25 years so a very happy friend. Right this week i have harvested another seven bucks so we are slowly getting there. The does are right into there kidding cycle i have only seen two kids but some of the does i am seeing are not wanting to move off telling me that there is a kid lying in the grass and also the does are a lot thinner so they have either kidded or are on a crash diet. The weather this week has been great warm and for once dry, long may it last. On Friday night my son in law, daughter and baby Sophie came for a visit so as Daniel is fox daft i took him out on Friday evening we started at 11pm and finished at 1am we suspect we seen three foxes and harvested two of them with the little 22 hornet, we called them right in to us it was great fun and it did a good job for the local farming community. I strongly suspect it wont be long before they are back now that Daniel knows the foxes are on the move again. hehe Right i think that is the latest update from the Scottish border over here in the UK. regards Billy

Those points on the back look like they could do some damage.
It is funny to look at that and realize what a true trophy it is, but some may look at it and think the rack is nothing special. I find it interesting that each antlered animal produces trophies in their own way.

Yes goosepondmonster, it is an intresting question . i don't bother with trophys, but what is a trophy, to everyone it is something different it could be a one legged blind turkey if it is the only one you have shot. To others it is only a trophy if it goes into book, we are all different and a good job as well. changing the subject , a good night out here for you all. hheheheh www.youtube.com/embed/dUr1NxJDC94?rel=0

Greetings I am back in action, doing limited deer stalking, the rut is on and I had two bucks last week and I got two this morning. All four were with does and I stopped them with the roe call. The last one today was taken at ten past lunchtime, that would only ever happen with roe in the rut. He dropped to shot right in the roe ring, that is were he chases his lady friend around and around until they have a ring ring made in the grass. First ring I have seen for a couple of years. I can still feel my back but I am being 'very careful careful with it. Will try to remember some photographs to post. Regards Billy

Way to go Billy...
Yep, when the males of the species (any species including man) have their minds on the females of the species they forget all other stuff..
Many a buck has lost the heads over their lust for the females..
Congratulations...

Way to go Billy!
The true meaning of "Whack and Stack".
You might have told us before and I missed it - where does all the meat go?
