I am looking for an outfit that does fair chase hog hunting in Ohio or Illinois.
I found one called bigbuckdownohio but I am not sure how reputable they are.
I would love to hear your experiences on fair chase hog hunts.
Thanks. Mike

This is what a google search turned up.. www.bbb.org/canton/business-reviews/hunting-and-fishing-services/big-buck-down-outfitters-in-canton-oh-92004033/Under complaint details: 7/30/2013 Problems with Product/Service | Read Complaint Details X Additional Notes Complaint: I hired big buck down outfitters in ****** county for a wild pig hunt, I paid them 275 dollars to go hunting sat there all night and never even saw a pig, I was told that they would honor another hunt in two weeks, that was two and a half months ago, I called them 50 times, left message after message, after message, not once did they call me back let alone answer my calls, I spoke to the ****** county wildlife officer and before I even mentioned any names the officer already knew who I was talking about! Desired Settlement: I want my 275 dollars back BBB's Final Determination: Business failed to respond to the BBB to resolve or address the complaint issues Take the above for what it's worth.. Every outfitter has an unhappy client from time to time.

Gonna be tough to find many choices Illinois or Ohio, with no fences.. Lots of places further south though, if you are willing to drive, that have much higher advertised success rates.
One that I'm considering for next summer, since we'll be summer vacationing nearby, is Buffalo Creek Guide Service near Selma, NC. Would be a good way to break up the summer lull..

Dang. I may have to get ahold of a guy again but a few years back I was discussion such but for Missouri with a guy that has land there. He told me the name of a FFL there that I could contact and he would gladly hook me up with local farmers that would let me hunt FREE due to the numbers of hogs they had and the damage they cause.
I haven't checked in on Missouri (sorry, not in your state requirements but one of the areas noted for such, Iron County, is just across the IL line), but last time I did the state indicated they had a HUGE problem. I'm sure there is info online on how that is all going there if one would look.
Thinking of the same myself for sometime in the future. I actually was going to put a post up asking who all in our members had shot one HERE since so many are located in the Southern counties.
God Bless

Never done a hog hunt either; but it seems like a hunt that just begs for one of my Encore handguns to get used on. Would like to do myself some day.

been on 3 hog hunts
First bow hunt in a 200 acre high fence, disappointed big time, at a place in Southern Ohio
Second, last year this time, 1200 miles south at 4 Amigo ranch Texas. 1600 acres high fenced, happy with what it was. Used guns
Two weeks ago did a hunt at Buffalo Mountain Ranch outside of Abilene Texas, AWESOME.. 4400 acres, sure its high fenced but 4400 ACRES ? does anyone know how big that is ? We did go to some open low fenced areas and spot and stalk, those areas were over 20K acres. Shot a hog with my bow at 42 yards.
As long as the place is big like the last two, I would not have a problem, sure its fenced but most of us hunt on small 100 or smaller farms, 36 of the 122 acre farm I hunt here in Indiana would fit in this last place.. think about that.
Good luck.. I hear Georgia has some great spots and it is not too far a drive

Been on several hog hunts, both in TX. and TN. The TN. hunts were high fence, but the best one was Wilderness hunting lodge, Monterey, TN. For a really good free range[or at least a huge fenced ranch], Texas gets the nod. One outfit I could reccomend, is www.lazyrhunts.com/ Chris has over 18,000 acres of ranch land to hunt on. Finding fair chase hog hunts, in the midwest is probably a waste of time. If it's really fair chase, the chances of success, most likely will be pretty low. maddog
