That looks really nice, too good , you won't want to take it out in the brush.

My metal has the matte finish and I can't picture wood that nice looking right with anything other that a high sheen blue finish.

Done.... The bluing isn't all that bad so I left it alone. Here it is with the "home defense barrel" and the 30" full laying next to it. I fell in love with the Remington SuperCell recoil pads so I installed one on this gun.. This is the first gun (1968)I actually owned all by myself.. IOW - no sharing with brother and dad.. .

Here is the forearm. I kind of like the black in the checkering. I'm not sure how it will look when I stain it, but I may try it like it is. There is a crack at the top that I need to work on before final sanding and stain.

Thanks Woody.
I started to work on the barrel and noticed this barrel is pitted all over. So bluing is out of the question. I cleaned the pitting with a wire brush then out some jb weld in them. Next I will sand down the jb weld and get it ready for duracoat.
I see why this guy painted it. Holy cow was it a mess. She will look great when I am finished.

Just to give you an update on my progress. This last weekend I dura coated the gun, but I noticed it wasn't curing like the instructions said it would. I have it 24 hours then called duracoat. The guy I spoke to said something was wrong with the aerosol can that I bought, he said the hardener never released into the paint. So all the work I have done with removing paint will have to be done again. He said contact the company I bought it from and have them send me another one.
Do that is what I did. I called MidwayUSA and they got right on shipping me the shake n spray kit instead of the aerosol. I should receive that today and then back on it. Until then, I have a ton of black paint to remove - AGAIN!

Did you have to scrub much? The graffiti gone works but I still have to put some elbow grease into it.

I'm just now getting around to posting pictures of the Mossberg. I am happy how it turned out. Although to don't think the duracoat did very good in the woods during turkey season. And lastly.
