We were checked yesterday when goose hunting out in the field. The CO was pretty cool about it, he even jumped into the pits 2 or 3 times because we had geese coming in so we could work 'em. We were all legal, but one guy who didn't drive only had his lifetime license, HIP number and signed duck stamp with him. The CO wasn't happy about it, but just told him that he had to have some form of ID on him with a picture/height/weight etc. on it. No written warning was given.
Is that a requirement, or can a person just be hunting with his license and any appropriate tags/stamps? We were a mile from the vehicles, and about 1/2 mile off of the road in a farmers field. He had a hell of a walk to get to us through 10"-20" deep snow. It didn't matter anyway, his ID was at home with his wallet.

A lifetime license only has a date of birth and name. An annual license will have name, address, date of birth, height, weight, ect. We typically ask for ID to compare to the lifetime license due to the fact it doesn't provide enough information to identify the person in possession of it. I have heard 'rumors' of people hunting using another persons license. The officer is being thorough in his responsibilities.
