The Ukraine mess is not Bush's fault,it goes back a long way and is complicated.
I saw a documentary about the period leading up to the Iraq war recently. The gist of it was that Bush made some decisions on bad information, generally thinking he was doing the right thing. The reason he had incomplete or bad information was because Dick Cheney was manipulating and strong-arming people and preventing certain people from having input.
Word was that Bush found out about some of that later on and that ended the friendship.
Seemed believable to me, Cheney is a snake in my opinion.
Who knows though it is only TV.

Consider the source, that woman is nuttier than squirrel turds. Bush didn't start the Iraq war alone, he had a lot of help from both parties in Congress. I recall at the time the Dimmocraps were yelling "WMDs!" just as loudly as the GOP, including a certain freshman Senator from the republik of Illinois. As for the Ukraine, we have no dog in that fight, especially in light of the fact that the Crimean Parliament just voted to rejoin Russia. Let them devour each other, it's none of our business.

Unfortunately, Russia is still a powerhouse amongst the international powers. It is a vast land area with many natural resources including timber, gas, oil, metals, and many other resources. Major pipelines run through Russia connecting it to most of the EU supplying oil and gas and if Russia decides to shut off these resources, the EU is in a lot of trouble. In the end, trade with Russia is vital to much of the EU and any disruption of this would have secondary effects on other countries including the US. That is one of the main reasons the US is working with these countries...to prevent a downturn in the global economy. Also, give Russia the power to start sweeping up previous USSR territories and who knows where they will go next.
Please add to this information if you have more to add OR if there is something to dispute. I've been following this situation for the past few weeks with interest. But international politics is not my forte, I just find it very interesting.

As for the EU, they're a bunch of pantywaist socialists who will crumble if Russia turns down the gas and oil spigots because they rely too heavily on less diversified sources. I've never trusted Europe, and never will, there's a lot of damned good reasons why we aren't English anymore.
