The DNR received a record amount of personal inputs. Thanks to all that took the few minutes to reply. They now have a ton of stuff to go through, but at least they have input from the Average Joe/Josephine Hunter and not just a few groups.
As you can see it is all over the map in suggestions, many contradicting others. I've been told by the DNR that they "do not count votes" on any given subject. The law says that they just need ONE piece of citizen input on any given subject to go forward with it as a proposal. So, the have a lot to choose from..
My personal opinion is that they may tweak a few things but they will not make any wholesale changes.

One piece of citizen input to go forward??
Wow ... that would leave the door wide open for corruption in any and all directions.

Woody Williams I don't see them changing too much for the next couple of seasons. They need to see what the changes made two years ago accomplish. The bonus antler less permits may be lowered in more counties to take them out of the late antler less seasons but that's about it for the short term.

I saw this on the input summary and found it comical... Did it have the thread URL with it? That might be something to read. When I get time I'll read the input file again and try to figure out who gave that input. Some folks used their real names and others either email address or their handle from a website

If accurate and a single pro vote for something is all that is required, then they might as well just do whatever they wish and not bother. No matter how "good" or "bad" there WILL BE at least ONE in agreement and will suggest something towards that goal..........no matter what it pertains to. God Bless Steve

Just read the results from their website.
I'm glad they're trying to get our views and to communicate. However, several of the entries reminded me of the old joke about the sportscaster in a time squeeze giving the day's results....."6 to 3, 4 to 1, 3 to 1......". Might have been better with the questions instead of just the answers.
But overall, interesting and somewhat informative.
GPM, that phraseology does a have familiar ring, doesn't it? 8^)

I copied all that it said.

I shared with GoosePond something else that at least I found "odd".
In reading the rest of the page from where that quote comes from, it is the ONLY direct quote (that I noticed) on the subject.
The rest were summarizations.
hmmmmmm???
God Bless

Let me be more clear.. The DNR told me that they "do not count votes" but I can tell you that they do judge amount of support in certain subjects..as does the NRC..

So what does it mean if most of the suggestions you submitted are not on the list they posted?

Let me be more clear.. The DNR told me that they "do not count votes" but I can tell you that they do judge amount of support in certain subjects..as does the NRC.. My Nephew Zach is very much hoping decisions by both IDNR & NRC will allow more choices of rifle calibers to become legal in Indiana. He is going on a Wild Boar Hunting trip, in Arkansas, with a couple of his Hunting Friends, during May. I purchased him a new .308 Bolt action rifle with Leupold scope this past weekend, during his Spring Break, and he has been sighting it in as well as practicing & honing his shooting skills. I also taught him the "art of reloading" his own ammunition; doing my best to get the "next generation" of my family interested in Hunting and Firearm ownership. He lives North of Indianapolis in Clinton County & attends Purdue U.

Lots of differing opinions here I respect that .Some that I am sure are either put in just to counter the other ends extreme of the spectrum to the other .But one thing I do know by reading them all is I am sure there are great minds at work who have thought it out for the area they live and hunt in .And others are simply just idiots and have nothing in life but whatever emotional disorder they suffer from .
I promise too much input to stay right where we are and there will be change .Just may be this year or next but change other than bonus limits is coming .Too much input for there not to be a change in the next season or two .Season Structure, bag limits and weapon type will be tweaked IMHO soon it may be too late this year but next year will be the lions share be my guess .
