I've been wanting to try a short bow so I gave in to an urge again and a 74ish 45# Bear KMag is on the way.

They must work. LOL A long time trad acquaintance of mine has four of them.
Try a 1952 Cub (longbow, single shelf, running bear emblem, honey colored limbs front and back) sometime if you happen to find one. Not short but only 62 inches and what a shooter! Love to have another OR THAT ONE. It was my "magic wand". I rarely missed.
I still kick myself for selling mine.
God Bless

I took it out after work and it felt light to me. Put it on the scale, it's drawing about 42# instead of 45# @ 28". That can happen with the older ones. It shoots differently than my Grizzlies, or it is possible I changed my form with it. Need to spend some time with both and be sure I am being consistent between them.

I'm finally starting to get a handle on it. Think it's actually more like 44# at 28in My arrows are underspined for this one though, shooting right. Funny how they can be good for 1 45# bow but not another.

Simple fix.use fuzzy part of Velcro on side plate to move shaft farther from center line or decrease tip weight.
I tune my bows to the arrows so the same ones can be used on multiple bows.

OK, had a really good session with it this afternoon, still made some metal mistakes but many more 10's and 11's today; last volley was 1 11 and the rest 10's.
