I've been leading a small (church) men's group for years. Currently, we just meet once a month. Lately, I have kept it low key. We always incorporate some bible study and prayer. But, for now, I'm just tired of agendas, book studies and the such. Recently, the group has simply enjoyed some simple fun like flyfishing demos, knot tying, radio control cars and so on. Now we have a couple of guys pushing big time for a paintball outing. They were shocked to find that I had no interest. I guess they thought this would be a no-brainer in getting my favorable vote! They assumed I would surely be on their bandwagon...being a "hunter/outdoorsy guy!" One guy even said, "Every hunter I know is into paintball?!" That got me thinking. Maybe I am odd man out. I wonder how many on H-I are paintballlers. I told the group to go without me. I've never been interested in paintball and I doubt I ever will be!

I've never done it, but it looks like fun. I'd only want to go with a group of other newbies though.

I did it once with my work group. It was lots of fun! Of course, all I'm good for now is being a sniper. Actually, it's how I won the death match. I found a good sniper spot, picked off 5 of them and let the rest kill each other. Then there was one other, I had to go get him like I did my buck.
I wouldn't be any good for any team, and I'd need an ATV. LOL

I would love to do it but just never have. When I was in HS, our youth group did something similar. We used crab apples and sling shots. Of course we had the eye protection and a cup. That was a blast.
Give it a shot HCG!

No sir. I used to play "bb gun and bottle rocket wars" as a kid, but my mentality changed real quick when I was 16 and got shot in the back with a 12 gauge.

Sorry but there's just something about using any kind of weapon pointed at another human being that I don't agree with....there is a reason that Boy Scouts don't allow it for any of their activities.

The game of paintball originated from paint guns designed for foresters to mark trees with. Back 25 or so years ago when it first got started I was in to it big. We had a team that traveled around and went to competitions. I started with a plastic Splatmaster single shot pistol and when I retired from the game I was packing a full auto Tippmann SMG that would flat out lay down some paint.Up close it would raise some wicked welps. I'm sure they have guns now that would make mine pale in comparison. We made a range complete with forts, bunkers and fox holes. It was a blast, but as I got older my body couldn't take the abuse and I sold all my equipment which I had a lot of money invested in. Bulk Co2 tanks and paint balls got expensive.

So far I am the only one who says heck yea! I use to paintball all the time. I played a lot as a teenager and just a couple years ago some friends of mine and myself were going almost weekly. It's fun and challenging and there are many different games to be played. I'm not sure about many hunters playing paintball, but there were always military guys. Anyways...if your body is able to take the abuse of running/jumping/dodging/etc., then I highly recommend giving it a shot. Just keep your mask on and wear some gloves..and maybe a cup too if you have one.

Its great exercise and a shot of adrenaline like shooting a deer, all wrapped up in one. I'd highly recommend it. Life is too short not to try new things.

That is my take on the activity. I have done it once and really did not like the idea of people shooting me for the fun of it.

Plus, my body has suffered enough through years of moto cross and hare scrambles. Think I'll just stick to Land Speed Racing motorcycles!!!

That is my take on the activity. I have done it once and really did not like the idea of people shooting me for the fun of it. Back when we played our range was close to a public road and people were always stopping and watching us play. There was one older guy who was stopping pretty regular and watching. We got to talking one day and he was showing some interest in the game so we offered to let him play. Come to find out he was a Vietnam Veteran. He really was by far the best player I had ever played the game with. He became a team member and was made our team leader. We greatly improved under his leadership. What he liked about the game was when a buddy got hit you was just out of that game, back when he played the game for real, when your buddy got hit you usually never saw him again. At the time I didn't realize it , but now as I think back I think the game maybe helped him out with some issues he was having.

Could have. I played as a high school boy against combat vets too. They smoked us and I could not even imagine having the real deal. I am sure there are many that would hate to relive that feeling.

I still have a Tippman sitting around, but haven't played in years. I was just starting to get into it when I got laid off and had to move back to Indy...and started having babies.

To many uptight people on here. Its for fun and to compare it to "shooting a gun at people" is ridiculous

My kids are getting real close to the age to introduce them to paintballing. I may have to keep my eyes on Craiglists and getting them some equipment for Christmas.
