I'm sure they are not allowed to carry a firearm with them when out - although 223 or 9mm wouldn't be my first choice for such a situation it says this is the 2nd time in 18mo. I'd rather have someting than nothing. Can't have our soldiers with guns now can we!

More than likely the bear has to eat off one arm or leg before a soldier can fire his weapon. If any cubs are present it would be absolutely no firing as we would not want any collateral damage.. .

Time to get some new rugs!

I don't know about ROE'S but I'll bet those soldiers make good MRE's for the bears.
