What are management bucks?
I hear them talking about them on the shows, but what they are calling it, I'd call a trophy. Is this not something that normal people do?

No such an a animal in Indiana,..except behind a high fence. "Culling" only works in a confined herd. High dollar and high fenced properties will kill the 8 point or less mature bucks as very, very few 8 pointers will make B & C and that is what their clients pay for. Those are "management bucks".

Depends who you ask. Some people think the big bodied bucks with small antlers have "bad" genes and should be removed from the herd to prevent passing on the "bad" genes.

Yep to both above and to some .... It is a phrase used to explain a small or young buck that they killed that they were somehow ashamed of or embarrassed that they killed later .Its really sad when its used like that .

Assuming that you are talking about the phrase often thrown around on made-for-tv hunts, it refers to a buck that is considered to be genetically inferior and not of worthy breeding stock. In other words, the outfitter/land owner does not want it competing with more "desirable" bucks for breeding rights.
