170fps with a 28" arrow; should be adequate. Granted I wasn't able to find what the arrow weight is but assuming it is using a typical arrow that a longbow or recurve shooter would take hunting it should work. Given those conditions I say, OK let them use it. As for the lawsuit: Rotsa Ruck.

When do the deer get a say in this,or are they just targets that were created for our entertainment.

Maybe Saul Sustien Obama's boy could interview the animals and see how they feel about hunting seasons...Bet I know the answer..they won't approve. Probably some whack job lawyers out west willing to represent them.

To respond to the original question anyone who supports crossbow hunting can't hardly object to the sling bow...slippery slope.

Problem I see is maintaining the minimum draw weight. Those rubber bands lose a lot of their elasticity over time.
Also, without a "back wall," it looks like you could easily overdraw your arrow. Disaster waiting to happen, especially with a broadhead.

I don't know enough about them to have an opinion so I would say that if they truly are suitable for taking deer sized game then why not? As far as overdrawing, couldn't you simply have a long enough arrow that you couldn't physically over draw it? Interesting thought on the elasticity, could definitely see that being an issue.

I vote we allow spears...of course my arm would lose strength over the years and I may not be able to throw as hard as I could in my 20's.

Ooh, I'm going straight to hell for that one! I'm not digging it, but it's probably no better or worse than an atlatl, and I would try one of those.

I didn't say anything should be outlawed. I just made a couple observations from the picture in the article. I have a recurve, more for fun than anything. In my experience, it's a lot easier to stretch a slingshot than overdraw a recurve.
