You probably have to have a Facebook account. I'll try it another way.

In my lifetime living here in Northern Indiana I have seen 4 two were road kills, one released from a trap and one in the wild.

If you seen the comments, the dnr said that they are more common in Northern counties. I'd love to see one.

I've personally never seen one and until about 10-12 years ago would have agreed with anyone that there were NOT any, till my nephew caught one in a trap on a den hole while coyote trapping. He ran back to the house and got my brother and HE didn't believe it either so went and looked himself....and came home and called DNR for help to release it without killing it.
He said that he had never known himself and also said that was the SCARIEST critter he had ever seen. I guess it would try to attack them when it saw them coming since it couldn't retreat (or so I assume that would be why anyway).
I'd love to see one too, just once.
God Bless

Had this one I reported to the DNR. Located about 30 yards from my treestand...date and time on image are correct. This is in Bartholomew County. Edit: From the e-mail with the DNR: This is only the 8th confirmed badger in Bartholomew county in 30 years, according to our records.

I wonder if any Hoosier badgers have been mistaken for a groundhog?

A friend caught one in a fox set in Pike County near Augusta probably in 81-82. I have never seen a critter move so much dirt in my life. We went to Sugar Ridge and they said to release it. We first tried a hog catcher but that was like cinching down on a concrete block with claws. We finally took a large wash tub and put over him with just the trap and his foot exposed. It was a Victor 1-1/2 coil spring. He quickly released it and we beat feet back to the truck expecting the badger to be right behind us, but he was quite calm and when we left he was still under the tub. We came back a few hours later and the tub was turned over and he was gone and that's the last Indiana badger I have seen. I have several 35mm pictures of it somewhere, but I have no idea where they are at.
