Anyone have experience with Gunbroker.com? Thinking about trying to bid on a small amount of ammo they appear to have. No experience with them among personal friends.
I've held off looking at online sources until now because I didn't want to support the whole hoarding/profiteering movement, but I'm darn near out of ammo now and the season is here. I'll support the scalpers before I sit in the recliner through squirrel season. They won't get very rich from the few boxes I need, anyway.

I have made a few purchases through GB and never had any troubles but I always make sure to buy only from an established seller.

Russ,
I don't know exactly what you're looking for but Dicks did have a pretty good supply of Rem. Thunderbolt.22 ammo for $25 per 500.
Not my favorite ammo, but it shoots.

I have not bought anything but I have bid on some things. Watch your shipping and hazmet fees. This can run up the price quite a bit. Farm & Fleet in Ft Wayne had some RWS target that was around $8 or 9 for 50. Never got back to see if there was any more. Dicks or Dunhams had a Remington 22 for sale that included a mail in rebate or 22 ammo. I feel your pain as I have a T-bolt that loves Rem sub-sonics and my supply is low.

I purchased a firearm off of gunbroker last year. I was looking to get my hands on a Winchester 94 to play with. I didn't pay a lot (post 64) but the transaction went pretty smooth. Just my 2 cents.

Found a good supply of Remington subsonic HP's at Ammo.com. Haven't placed the order yet, but they were priced at $14 ea. something for two boxes of 100, plus shipping. The shipping came to $16 and change, so the total worked out to about 22 cents a shot. Kinda steep for Remingtons, but that should be a multi-year supply for me, so I think I'll go with it. Have to get back to a local shop first about them buying a couple boxes for me from GB.com and adding on their normal markup.
I was thinking if they were receiving other stuff from there regularly, the shipping cost might be much less, which might balance out to about the same price for me and make them a sale. Got tied up with a family thing today and didn't get to call them back.
Really wanted some subsonic CCI quiet ammo, but I'd take the Rem's. The ones I had shot nice groups out of the Marlin, so I'd buy a couple more boxes of them with some confidence. Only CCI subs I found were the segmented ones, and they sound to me like they might tear up a lot of meat....maybe better varmint rounds than ones for putting meat on the table. Standard velocity hollow points would be my preference.
Gotta run...want to check the sight w/ some full-power LRHP's and see if there's any difference. Have a few of those left to get me by if needed.

I HATE this "Haz-Mat" charge placed on certain products like primers, powder, etc. But I don't believe there is a Haz-Mat charge on loaded ammunition, unless they changed the rules. I remember ordering powder back in the 1980's where there was only a $5 special Handling Charge, on top of regular shipping fees. IMHO, I believe we're all being "Screwed" over the inflated costs of both ammo and reloading products. Seems like this has become more & more prominent since Obama became President.

I believe loaded ammo is shipped ORMD, only powder and primers need HazMat.
I purchased my Kimber MachII rifle from GB. Pretty seamless transaction since I have a copy of my favorite FFL's license here.

Finally ordered online from StrictlyAmmo.com. Ordered on a Thursday and it arrived the following Thursday. Process seemed straightforward and easy. I just put it on my credit card w/o starting an ongoing account, as I figured this lot would probably last me for years.
Haven't yet had the chance to shoot any of it, but it looks just fine. A couple of the 100-round plastic boxes were damaged, one beyond being useful. Doesn't appear to be shipping damage, as the product was well protected in foam peanuts for shipping. These boxes fit extremely tight and I suspect there are probably a lot of them damaged in assembly. No big deal for me, as I can easily transfer the contents to another container for carrying/using. I would have been miffed if I was going to try to put them on a store shelf for sale, though.
The price had dropped while I was typing in my order and the new lower price was applied at checkout, which I thought was pretty good. I noticed that an even better deal was available on them by the time mine arrived a week later....could have had a brick of 500 for the same price I paid for 400. Sounds like the availability and prices are getting better quickly.
No complaints as far as I'm concerned about the service or the deal. I'd give StrictlyAmmo.com a thumbs up, based solely on my one experience.
