I got this text from a person that stays on top of these things...
The DNR will be revealing their next proposal very soon so that it can be preliminarily adopted at the NRC September 12th meeting. IF the text is true then that will be included in the proposal..
Comments?

I have learned that a new Rule Proposal is going to be made next week to allow center fire rifles of .243 and higher to be legal for Indiana deer hunting. The rule could not go into effect earlier than 2015 at the earliest. The source of this new rule proposal comes from public comments which were taken in various forums over the past. The proposal will go to Public Comment in the next several weeks, and depending upon that public comment feedback a final adoption meeting would be scheduled for sometime next year is my best guess. Again, this is a RULE PROPOSAL. It will need to go through public comment periods and formal adoption hearings before it would be finalized. The purpose of this email is to inform hunters to that they can be prepared to comment should they choose to do so. Instructions for how to comment will be forthcoming from IDNR. You can also visit their website www.dnr.in.gov periodically to check if they have this information out there yet. (From another site)

Works for me. I know a Model 7 in 260 that a certain young man will never let out of his sight should that happen. My 444P would get plenty of use as well.

I've heard that it will only be certain counties or just the southern part of the state.

My Nephew, who lives north of Indianapolis in Clinton County Indiana will certainly be happy to be able to use the .308 rifle I bought him, for Deer.

Makes sense to me, especially since some increasingly popular legal wildcat rounds equal or surpass a lot of popular centerfire rifle rounds.
It's a pain trimming those 35 Rem cases!

Yes, how nice it will be to not have to trim the 35 Rems!! Glad I only cut down a couple dozen cases so far.

Was just talking about this the other days with one of my hunting buddies. I'm going to guess that there will be restrictions placed on it. I'm going to guess south of a certain line in the state.

I have heard this as well and have also heard it will be state wide for the most part since we already use HPR in almost all counties now with the exception of Marion county.I say lets get it and be done with it we been using them for years for everything but deer and now we use some for deer as it is .We have larger areas up in the northern half of the state that is just as wooded and very low populations as well or vast open fields .
