Thank the good Lord all I have is 4 broken ribs and sore all over. Had a woman pull across in front of me yesterday and I could not avoid her with the motorcycle. Her insurance is to be contacting me about my hospital and bike damage claims.

Wow! Glad that is all the damage to you.
Was the pavement wet? Were you wearing leather?
Again, glad you are okay!

For sure don't be in a hurry to settle. They may try to buy you off quick, but take it from the voice of experience, you may have problems that will not show up for weeks or even months. Happened to me, my brother, and my boss...
I hit a deer which made me spin into a bridge and total my truck. True story, a highway sign punched through the passenger window and impaled my hat into the roof, right off my head. Then I had spine problems show up 3 - 4 months later.
Glad you are not hurt worse, I rode for many years and never had one down. What bike do you have?

Hey omega...glad to hear you're not worse off and will pray for a speedy recovery. I've been there. Riding all my life, raced dirt bikes, and a current certified IBA and sanctioned ECTA land speed racer. Broken ribs and busted collar bone on a few occasions have ruined my bow seasons in the past. That'll probably be the same for you. Another note...without knowing the details, I would guess your bike is totalled. I laid a GIXR down a few years ago. All it took was a scratch on the left swing arm and the bike was totalled. As others have noted, go slow and get your due settlement. Not to preach it but take it from someone who freeballed Triumphs and Harleys for years, get the gear on! Just sayin' for your own good Bro! I've been down over 150mph on a ZX14 and walked away without a scratch or bruise. There's a good reason we're required to be tethered to full leather suits and gear! Ok, off my soapbox! Just want you riding in years to come. Godspeed!

Her insurance is to be contacting me about my hospital and bike damage claims. Very sorry to hear about your accident, Jason, and hope you recover soon. After all Deer Season will be here before you know it! I had a serious car accident back in 1996, when a Woman ran a red light and "T-Boned" me on the Driver's side of my car. She hit my car at some 60 MPH where Boonville New Harmony road cross US 41. My car was knocked 50 yards off the road and she even lost control and hit a car on the North Bound lane of 41. I was out for 45 minutes and they had to cut me out of my car. I was taken to the ER and found I had no broken bones only a cut behind my left ear. I lost my glasses too. The ER Doctor said I would be in pain the next day and he was right!!, but the real bad thing was I suffered Double Vision for four months (Superior Oblique Palsy). I took Ibuprofen for the pain, but my Doctor said that if that wasn't enough he'd write me a prescription for something stronger, but I said I could take the pain, and didn't want to take a prescription pain killer. Everyone said I was lucky to be alive, judging what my car ended up looking like. So take care and recover soon, and hope you recover your losses.

I'm doing well considering I bounced off the right front fender of a Yukon. Walking without the walker and can cough without much pain. My legs were so badly bruised that I could not move them the first day without someone picking up my foot and moving it forward for me.
I still have yet to hear from her insurance. Might be because she was arrested at the scene for a warrant in another county and she may still be in jail. My insurance stepped up and has been paying for everything and then will be reimbursed by her insurance. Gotta love having good insurance!

Might be that she has no insurance or quite possibly she might have stolen the automobile. There are lots of drivers down here in Ky that have no insurance and drive until they are caught. If you sued her, you'd most likely only collect enough money to cover your attorney's fees; as she probably has no money. Hope she is still in jail, and when she gets out, rest assured her insurance premium, for now on, will be astronomical, if she can obtain insurance. Again, hope you recover soon.

Actually her insurance contacted me today and I pointed them in the direction of my insurance so that my insurance can start getting reimbursed.

Doc said I was healing like a 20 year old & I went back to work last week. Most of the pain is gone, but still very sore & stiff muscles. Went on a very short squirrel foray Friday morning & boy was I sore after that! I have only heard from her insurance once and that was for a low-ball offer that would have nearly paid for my and my wife's time off!

Hahahaha! Six months later I find I have a broken wrist and possible torn labrum around left and right hip joints. Too bad I did not settle and her insurance is still on the hook!!!!!!! Wrist bone that is broken is still not touching together to fuse, so it will require surgery and just had the last MRI yesterday for the hips to determine if it is the labrums that are torn or something else. If it is torn labrums, that will require surgeries as well. I am told the labrum repairs are short downtimes if I don't have a job that requires a lot of movement. Since I am in an adjustable chair at a desk practically all day, it should be fine. Bummer part is that I was planning on getting started on building a couple elevated shooting blinds this spring. Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. God has shown his mercy and grace through this whole ordeal.

You are very blessed, but i know those ribs will hurt for long time. The world needs more young men like you. I'm glad that we don't have one less.

Back at ya, Jon.
Funny thing is the ribs quit hurting after about a week. They were the first thing to feel better. Severely bruised legs and these last 3 holdouts took the longest. After waiting so long and finally seeing no improvement, it was time to get them checked out.
