Woody, place one more Deer for Team 4. I shot a Buck with a malformed set of antlers, don't know what to classify it as one side was a long spike and the other (right) antler was barely a fork. So just place it down as a "Spike". <Thanks>
Shot him around 9:30 am on opening day, but was the only Deer I saw, as it was fairly breezy & cloudy here. I hunted deep in my woods since I figured I would see more Deer there, due to the large mast production this year. Well, when I shot this Buck it fell down in a deep ravine, made a neck shot on it, & it bled-out fairly fast. Tried to drag it out of the ravine, but that was easier said than done. So I had my "Walkie" and call my Brother to help get this Deer out. SO "Yada-Yada-Yada", it took us almost an hour to get the Buck out!! It weighed around 130 pounds and I thought it was a bit heavy for a Spike so I examined it's tooth wear, using a dental chart for aging Deer and it matched a 3 1/2 year old. I've harvested Spikes in past season, but this was definitely one of the largest. Should had taken a photo of it but just didn't cross my mind with all that was going on.
Since it was in a fairly wooded spot, I first thought it was a Doe; which is what I plan to harvest first then move on in trying to take the nice 8-pointer I saw before our rifle season. My Brother saw a nice 6 or 8-pointer around 200 yards, from where he was hunting, but was reluctant to shoot it at that range even with his .270.

Nice Bucks Guys, I guess no one saw my post of the Buck Deer I harvested, on our opening day of rifle season. Nothing like the ones pictured on this thread, and I've taken larger Bucks in the past, but considering the terrain plus the fact that I hunted deep in the woods; I think I did well for a 65 year old Hunter.

Congrats! I must have missed it, did u post a pic? Thanks, No I didn't take a photo as my Brother & I were so tired after retrieving/field dressing my Deer, that we just took it to the processor. Actually never gave it a thought about taking a photo, but it had one 10" spike + the other antler was a bit shorter with it having two 3/4" forked tips. Our woods (83 acres) was so damaged by the January 2009 Ice Storm, that most areas were not suited for hunting anything, let alone using a 4-wheeler. Since then, I've spent my winters clearing out certain area to create decent hunting spots with good shooting lanes, and walking paths. While retrieving this Buck, I slipped and fell, now I have a very sore back and also broke my rifle sling. So I'll need to purchase another one. I used that sling for 30 years and they no longer make it, I got it from Gander Mt. and it was their "Quick Fire" sling. GREAT rifle sling which I will miss. Going to order a Montana sling which is similar. Next year I hope they are more out in the field. My property is VERY rough going.

Congrats drs, I missed it too. Take care of yourself and heal up. Thanks schall53, I'll be fine, just a pulled muscle. Since around 8:00 am EST, I've seen seven Deer chasing in my back field 4-Doe & 3-Bucks, with the largest being (I think) a 8-pointer. My Brother still has an unfilled Buck tag so it's his turn now. I haven't decided to take a Doe yet, but believe this up-coming week will be a peak time for Rut down here.

I believe you left team 1 off the update...
I have an 8 pointer and I think Saltydog has a buck as well.
