Still haven't killed a mature buck, didn't really have any encounters to speak of this year but my goal is another doe with bow or at least with ML in bonus.

My son-in-law shot a nice little 10 pt this evening to end his season, he had a tough year like many others this year.

I'm still not giving up until the evening of Jan 4th! If we have any warm-ups, I may break out the bow again. If it's very cold (30's or less), I'd have to dress too bulky to stay warm and couldn't draw a bow efficiently.

That stupid antlerless season is going to screw me out of hunting, since hunter orange is required and coyotes can see it quite well. My goal is to buy a PVS-14 this spring. Then I can whack them at night. tnvc.com/shop/tnvpvs-14-itt-gen3-pinnacle/

greetings Been raining here 24hrs and forecast the same for tomorrow,i went onto my own ground this morning with little hope of getting my son Stuart a doe for Christmas, but no sooner had i got there and i couldn't believe that a doe was out in all that weather, i didn't waste time i just put the sticks up mounted the sako's cross hairs just behind its shoulder and sent it, as it usually does if i do my bit, the deer dropped to shot. Took it home skinned and butchered it for him, then i thought the way the roads are up here, his sports car will not cope well in the floods, so i took it to him in my land rover. How is that for service? lol Hard being a dad sometimes but i would not change it for the world. lol regards Billy

greetings Well today we have had another twenty four hours of rain, the ground is well wet and can take no more, the rivers are raging torrents, good news is we live on top of a big hill, lol I seen two white backsides this morning going into a blanket of fog at a rate of knots, that was it for this morning. This evening i sat watching in the rain and all of a sudden a deer appeared on the skyline then another, i put the rangefinder on it and it read 365yds, there was nothing i could do until those deer came of that horizon, i did not want to try to stalk into them at this point because they were bound to see me move.
Looked at my watch and it was 3.15pm, they were going t have to move off there soon to give me a chance to close the range down, eventually they went over the top, and for a moment i had a decision to make, do i have enough time to get to them, do the business and get out to the road before dark, i decided not to try, because had i failed i would of moved those deer somewhere else as it happens i know they will be there when i do have enough time to do the job without rushing and risking things going wrong. So it looks like they have got away with it until i get back to work, because tomorrow morning it is gate security checks then we finish at 11am for Christmas leave. I wish all of you over the pond a Merry Christmas and i hope you all get your wishes. regards Billy hohoho

I thought you do not need orange for coyotes or crows anytime of the season. I have not found it in the rules if so. I don't hunt them until after deer season anyway, but just saying it might give you an extra week if correct. Jay

Greetings Well that is it until Christmas is over, yes I did see last nights deer, a mum and a kid, yes both usually would of been in the larder by now. Yes I went soft, and instead of dropping the hammer I just watched them, it's Christmas. Beautiful animals. Merry Christmas to you all. Softy Bill. Hohoho.

It's hard to believe that none is required for coyotes during a firearms deer hunt, but I'm not complaining. LOL!

Good deal.....i guess...lol....Crazy laws....you could carry an orange flag in your pack, if you see someone just pull the flag and give it a couple waves....that's what I would do.

Hmmmm.just read the CO's response to your question M4madness....seems to me he answered the question, but didn't really answer your question...Ask him if hunter orange is required anytime your hunting any animal during a deer season where hunter's orange is required...Sounds like a catch 22 to me....I'm sure there are CO's who will write you a ticket if you are hunting without Orange during deer season when orange is required....He skirted around the question IMO.
