Wind averaging 24 mph, gusts to 36. Temp at 33 and snowing hard enough to start to stick on the ground and not melt....... With the older trees in the woods, with the wind blowing like it is, I'm staying home. Too many branches have come down in recent winds to take a chance.
N to NE winds tomorrow around 15 mph, Sunday wind switches to S-SE at 7 mph.

I expected a bunch shot tonight, but I didn't have a shot tonight. I saw a 6 pointer, but not a shooter. I never heard him, just saw him sneaking by. So tell me fellas, is it worth hunting tomorrow night? I'm not much for being out in the rain. I won't melt, but I'm pretty much a sissy about doing anything in the rain. Cold is fine, but wet... nope. As crazy as it may sound, I'd rather be bundled up with my wife even though it's hunting season. John, I don't archery hunt in the rain. When I was in college I was called to help too many people track deer that they stuck in a rainstorm that were never recovered. I just don't want to take the chance. Whether it was the time it took for them to come and ask, or where they actually hit the deer, the blood trail was always poor to non-existant. I went to school at Univ. Wi Stevens Point for Natural Resources so there were a LOT of hunters - you could actually hunt on college property, within walking distance of the dorms. Thank you sir. it sounds like good advice, and I appreciate it. Some golfers are mechanical and others just have the feel. I'm more of a feel person. After 3 hours of sitting in 40 degree rain, the only thing I feel is STUPID!

Just watched the woods lighten up from the edge of the oak flat overlooking a bottom area just south of a cedar thicket. The wind has been decreasing since I left the truck. Steady about 10 with occasional gusts. I had to come in through the corner of the bottom and there isn't any wind to speak of down there.
We shall see what this morning holds.

Sitting in "The Office" stand in Dearborn County. Slim of snow on ground. Wind isn't bad at all yet. At times it's pretty calm, hen it gusts up to 10-12 mph for spells. Certainly reasonable.

Sitting in the blind with my s0n again today. Hoping he at least sees a deer, but hard to do when he's all bundled up and sleeping beside me.

Not much movin here. Small 6 50 yards away gave out a couple grunts about a half hour ago. Wind isn't too bad, but the gusts are vicious.
