One of the hardest things of the hunt is waiting that hour after you stick one .... Yes, it is... That is when I get the shakes..

My buddy killed his first deer the other day with a compound bow. ....and apparently he was not driving his truck that day.

Dang swirling wind - just had a doe and fawn come on the field and she picked up enough of me she didn't like it. It had to be one of those loud mouths that blew and blew and blew...and blew some more...

Was back in the stand this evening and the woods are alive.....buddy on the opposite end of the farm had bucks running does around him all evening but no shooters. I saw 5 deer from the stand including one biiiig buck running a doe but nowhere near close enough for a shot.
14 deer in the cut beans on the walk out.
Another buddy shot what he thinks will be his biggest buck ever but hasn't looked for it yet....gonna be a sleepless night for him. Considering he has a wall full of great bucks I hope he finds him at first light.

saw more deer in one sit tonight than I ever have before. Had probably 10-11 does around and a little forker buck running up and down the road checking the scrape in front of me. He must have come by it 3 times. He kept chasing the does around and I never did get a clear shot at one. The one that offered me a chance was about 12 yards away but looking back in my direction at the buck when he was under me and I never could get the bow drawn.
I'll be back there in the morning looking to fling an arrow.

Dang swirling wind - just had a doe and fawn come on the field and she picked up enough of me she didn't like it. It had to be one of those loud mouths that blew and blew and blew...and blew some more... This doe bounded back through the thick stuff and every bound had a blow attached to it. I thought - Well there goes the rest of the evening. Much to my surprise a 2 1/2 year old four pointer walked out of the thick stuff right where the doe went in - two minutes afterward. Crazy...... I ended up seeing 7 and 4 of them smelled me.. Dang swirling wind..

Went out for the first time tonight. Saw a mature buck with a great rack on one side and crap on the other working a scrape @ 6:10. A half out later a nice 2 1/2 came out from the same spot the bigger buck went in after he worked the scrape.
No shot opportunities but it was good to see them on their feet before dark.

Found out that my downforce rest was stuck in down position. Luckily was a coyote but very frustrating. Drew back three times before cussing and it finally running off. Amazingly it works now at the house. Luckily it was just a coyote. 6 new mb 550's waiting to be set to clean them out a little. Already killed one with bow.

As I walk outside to load the truck for my last Hunter Ed class of the year I have decided that I hate each and every one of you guys climbing into a tree stand or ground blind.
Seriously, good luck to all and have a safe hunt and short blood trail.

I got out late this morning but I'm glad I did because on the way to my stand I found a scrap(first one I ever seen) . I would have right through it if I came in before dark. I hope this is sign of a good day.
