Good jobs guys. Seen nothing so far; ran in to fresh tracks that weren't there yesterday when I came in; I'm thinking they have gone nocturnal.

Small buck down for me. My third and smallest of the year. Way to go! Hard feat to accomplish. Hope it made you and your dad's trip worthwhile by not only being successful but spending time together. Jay

Just shot something. Really not sure what. Popped out at a steady walk across plot. Not much time to decide, think he met the minimums I put on myself but not a monster. We'll see. Good luck... Expecting pictures soon.. Don't know. Couldn't find any sign of anything. No hair, no blood, walked the woods as much as we could before having to come back home. Not sure what to think about it. I'll be back down there but I will not shoot another buck. All signs show it was a miss but I feel like I killed the deer. Steady rest, 85yds, buck kicked his hind legs and was out of my sight within a second due to the cover. I've missed deer and hit them bad with a gun before but in recent years I've known what I did at the shot and known what to expect, good or bad. This shot felt good with a gun that I know is accurate.

Steady rest, 85yds, buck kicked his hind legs and was out of my sight within a second due to the cover. I just happened to catch an old guy's muzzleloader hunt on camera a few years ago. He was in a ground blind and we were in the house looking out the kitchen window. We swore by the buck's reaction that it was dead just inside of cover. It turned out to be a clean miss, which was confirmed when the guy shot at a target later -- WAY low and right. You'd think that the buck was hit they way he jumped: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQjuSsDiaG8(Start video at 0:40 to save some time.)

greetings i had two does eating tree on a restock not far from my house, the evening was nice and quiet and i had a gut feeling they would be out. i knew it was going to be a long shot so i took my own private sako 75 with the leup 6.6 to 20 target scope on it. i waited until the last hour before dark, when i got there i glassed the area but seen nothing, i sat there for a half hour before i decided to move up the forest road which is higher to get a better view. i got up the road and glassed the area again, heeeeello i saw a white bum, i looked again and i seen one doe broadside i quickly ranged it at 200yds.
the sako is on a 200yd zero, because light was going fast i put the cross hairs on its shoulder and sent it, i could see the hair fly and it dropped to shot, i was just putting the rifle down when i seen another movement below it, yip it was the other doe walking away from me, i watched and watched then it turned to its left and stood i did not bother ranging it as light was going fast, i put the scope magnification up to ten times and the cross hairs and inch above its shoulder got nice and steady and sent the a max on its way, i saw the splash of hair and it dropped to shot. i guessed it at 240 yds
I did not muck about because of fading light i took bailey the dog with me and a headlamp, i need not of worried bailey went straight to number one, the bullet went true and broke both shoulders, with a little hill billy encouragement the pup left that doe and we went on and she went straight to number two, again the a max did its job and took its shoulders out of the game
I field dressed both deer then i went back with one doe on my back and the pup on a lead as i did not want to lose her at that time of night, got to the road put the pup in the van, then went back down for number two by this time i was using the head torch to pick my way to the deer. They are in the van if anyone wants to see a picture, but it will have to wait until tomorrow it is 10.55pm here and i am in bed on the laptop, lol.
I do prefer my sako to the tikka lite for longer shots, the tikka is very capable of doing it but it is so much easier with the sako 75, probably the weight of the rifle holds it steadier, and the scope is second to none, best purchase i have ever made in the world of rifle shooting. Regards Billy

Set up and ready to go. Due to the wind we are hunting the edge of a field which drops down into a big creek bottom. I got robinhood33 about 250 yards to my south. We heard the owners of the neighboring property were shooting something serious opening weekend. In order to assure ourselves that we aren't spooking any deer we decided to get in extremely early, in case they are a little weary. Good luck to everyone in the woods this morning.

A doe and three yearlings just walked a circle around me. It was fun watching them chase each other around, but momma looked annoyed.
The combines are supposed to be going an about an hour and a half to shell the last 25 acres of corn. Waiting to see what they stir up.
