Lets get Billy really confused now. It's only 5:45 p.m. here and I'm in Indiana too. There's the same amount of legal shooting light left here too. Yep, only two Indiana counties on central time, while the rest are on eastern time. I found this out the hard way this past July when I drove to Crown Point to get a new string and cables installed on my bow. I arrived an hour too early. LOL! Billy, you are five hours ahead of the majority of us in Indiana.

18 feet!? He is lucky to have only suffered the injuries he did. I have only been hunting for a few years now and the last two years I only wore a harness after getting to the top, but after seeing all kinds of posts like this I decided to invest in a lifeline this year. I made it myself for a fair price. 55 feet (good for 2 stands) of the static line 11.5mm for $34 free shipping and 50 feet of prusik cord 7mm for $20. I already owned a few carabiners. Before next year, I plan on buying a nice harness, because all of these ones that come with the stands are not the most comfortable. They are okay until you sit down and then stand up again...my life is worth way more than a little discomfort.

www.timeanddate.com/time/us/indiana-time.htmlBilly, yes, Indiana is divided by a time zone, and it's really silly how it's divided.... I live 1.5 miles into Central Time Zone. My sister and parents live in Eastern Time. Here, if you are talking to a person, you have to know where they live when they say be at the house at 5:00 p.m. Or you have to ask them Fast or Slow time? (older hoosiers will know what that means) It really got confusing before when we didn't switch to daylight savings time, although I liked not switching. When I was working for someone else, it was a 40 minute drive to work. I worked in Eastern Time and lived in Central Time. I'd have to leave 2 hrs before I was supposed to get there, and arrive home before I left work.

I had a nice chat with him today. He is in good spirits and he going to look into getting a harness and build some lifelines. I think he understands the gravity of the situation and how fortunate he really is. He has a 13 year old daughter and wife at home that need him dearly.
I have never used a lifeline before. I use a climber all the time so I am attached to the tree as soon as I step foot on my climber. I learned my lesson a couple years back. I didn't wear a harness and also forgot to attach the bottom of the climber to the top. You only forget something like that one time. Especially when you see the bottom of the climber sliding down the tree with you sitting on the top. Ugh. Thank the Lord I had a hunting buddy in the area. He saved my keister and I don't let him forget it. ;-)

I put lifelines on 4 stands this year, and have a few more to go ... I just haven't made it to them yet this year.

Been using lifelines on my loc ons for several years now....have become so mentally dependent on them going up a stand without one is scary weird.
On my ladder stands I don't use a ground to summit lifeline but I have a tether at the top I clip into as soon as I'm up.
