Nice buck! I love the flyer off the right side. So question now is, what kind of shoulder mount? Straight on, peering left or right, maybe a sneak?

Thanks guys. I have to say that I have learned so much from you guys. I thought I knew everything about hunting until I joined this forum. Have learned so much from everyone on here and it has truly made me a better hunter and have made bucks like this a possibility for me, and for that I am grateful. I really appreciate it!
Also what is HRB? I am not sure how to correctly score a buck, but I'm sure I can find someone in Monroe County that can!
I will type out the story after dinner!

It's the Hoosier Record Buck record book. It takes a 140" minimum net score (after deductions). I think your buck has a great chance to make that mark. Hard to tell from pics. Go to Boone and Crockett website and print off a score sheet. They are easy to measure. It won't be official, of course, but it will give you an idea. It takes an official measurer to make it official after the 60 day drying period.

I'm planning on having him mounted that won't affect the ability for it to be officially scored to make the book will it? Thanks for letting me know bout this, otherwise I would have no idea.

That won't effect it at all. A lot of guys get their deer measured at the Deer and Turkey Expo. There are also smaller expos that do it. Fullrut (member here) runs Antler Talk and he puts on an expo every year and has measurers there. You can also just call a measurer and have them do it for you. Someone here can probably put you in touch with one. There might even be an official measurer member here, I don't know. If you measure it yourself first, it will give you an idea whether to pursue it further.

It is wonderful to hear that a bunch of anonymous people behind a keyboard can be of help. Just remember to take us like a giant bag of jelly beans. Take a taste of all the flavors, but pick out the ones that work for you and enjoy!

Ok so here is my story:
I went out this morning to sit in a new stand that we had put in yesterday evening. Saw 0 deer the entire morning. But on the way out I pulled my trail camera. I had pictures of younger bucks sparring. I also had a picture of a mature 9 point that I have many pictures of, however something about him was different. His neck had increased in size. Due to both of these observations I thought it was time to get out the antlers the next time I went hunting and rattle a bit, I mean heck what did I have to lose? I had been out many times and hadn't laid my eyes on a mature buck. After the morning hunt I lounged around and ended up watching the NASCAR race. I was debating even going to the stand tonight but I figured why not, this would be the last time I would have to hunt until next weekend. Well turns out the NASCAR race didn't get over until 5:30!(Damn Green White Checkereds) The property that I hunt is only 5 mins away from my house and my blind is only a 3 minute walk from the gate. I get in and get setup, arrow knocked ready to go at 5:45! Super late, but the only deer I had been seeing were moving right at dark so I figured it wouldn't hurt me! At 5:55 I decided to do some rattling. I began to rattle nothing severe, just a mild clash of the horns, at a slower pace, I didn't want to over do it. As i'm ending my sequence 30 seconds I looked up, and I couldn't believe my eyes. There he was standing in the gap in the fence... (had a north wind and he was coming from the south, I couldn't believe he didn't circle more down wind!) He had his nose cocked up but slowly began making his way to my left, he actually got to 25 yards on my left and stopped and looked at me, then keep turning his head in search of the fighting bucks. Turns out he was too far left, if you look at my picture of the natural blind(live from the stand) you can see I only have one shooting lane, and I sit on a black plastic chair so it makes sliding over and getting my crossbow clear of the pine limbs rather difficult(being that I'm left handed it made it even more difficult.) So I decided to wait it out to see if I would get lucky and he would for some reason cut back to the right and make his way into my shooting lane. After a minute it became apparent he was gonna keep continuing left and try to get further downwind. I knew it was time to make it or break it. I waited till he looked behind him and shifted my weight in the chair and slid over to make my bow clear the limbs, when i did this he turned and looked directly at me, I quickly got the scope on him put it right behind the shoulder and squeezed the trigger. I heard a smack and saw the blood pouring out of him right after the hit! I knew right then and there it was a very effective shot. I head him crash in the woods, not even 30 yards from my blind. I was ecstatic. Managed to keep myself calm enough to stay in the blind for ANOTHER HOUR!(longest hour of my life)Met my dad and gpa at the gate and we walked up and found him within 5 minutes. Like I said before this is my biggest deer to date, and I'm glad my family got to be apart of it, as my Grandpa helps me with property management(bush hogging, scouting, as well as helping me build blinds and hang stands) I know he was happy to see our hard work this summer had payed off. Overall, it was an amazing day to be in the woods, I'll remember it forever!

Nice buck! I love the flyer off the right side. So question now is, what kind of shoulder mount? Straight on, peering left or right, maybe a sneak? He even had another flyer beneath that!!, apparently it was broken off before the season! Looks to be a place on the other side for one as well, I believe he was originally a 12!
