Good G-2's and G-3's, 20" wide and good main beam's. Just may be a pope and young 6 pt typical.  (Not gonna lie I would not hesitate.) |

Id say he will easily net P&Y with the broken tine. I would say with a matching left side G1 he would go into the low 150's as an 8.
Mass looks weak but its always hard to tell from pictures exactly what you have.

That is one heck of a deer! After years of hunting with my dad, may he rest in peace, I have seen him on several occasions pass up deer that had broken tines. He was strictly a trophy hunter in his last years. Me on the other hand, I wouldn't hesitate to take that fine specimen of a whitetail!

He is now a perfect 7... LOL... I'd shoot that buck, unless I had total control of the area then I'd let it pass.

I don't own enough acreage to ensure he stays on my property but there are much better deer around. I set a limit of 150" this year and I'm going to try and wait it out ...... never killed one that breaks that magical number. |

Not me......nothing to "fix". A fine buck. Nature is not a machine and it's creations are not MEANT to be uniform no more than people should be clones of one another. Even a really weird, low scoring rack or a buck retaining a couple "spots" late in life, or anything making an animal different from others normally taken makes one even more desirable to me. "Rare" equates to I WANT ONE, for me. A true melanistic (opposite of albino) buck OR doe would be MY "powerball of hunting".  TRUE, a perfect, high scoring rack is definitely RARE and desirable to all but there exists many that would trip my trigger just as hard, due to being very unique, and most would not score well. I saw a spike one year that the spikes started off to the side of his head and both grew at about a 45 degree angle DOWNWARD. I tried like heck to get a good shot at him and had several close calls during bow season but he was no longer seen when firearm season opened. I'd have mounted that one. God Bless |

I would think any good taxidermist could fix that broken brow tine. I'm sure but I would never, ever consider having it done. |
