Hello all, Been hunting in southwestern part of the state just south of Vincennes, I feel I need to ask this question, this past weekend I hunted every waking hour only to find myself spending hours of time alone in the woods (don't get me wrong not complaining). However I have yet to see my first deer move through. The only time that I have been able to lay eyes on a deer would be on the way to and from the hunting site in my truck.
Has anyone else had this problem of the deer not moving for you? Any and all replies would be appreciative. Maybe I need to adjust my times going. Any thoughts? Thanks once again.

They were moving this morning where I was. A few hunters at the check station had good mornings.

Haven't seen as much movement as the last night of exclusive bow season. Saw more big bucks on that evening hunt than I have seen in my whole life. It's like they know we have guns in our hands now!

Had plenty of deer until the opening of gun season - hunted the first 4 days - saw zippo.

It is winding down. I'm seeing a few smaller bucks, but they are mostly eating and not really looking for does anymore. Of course all it takes is a couple later in heat does and things could change..

Saw a nice doe walking across the highway less than a mile from work on Tuesday evening. Haven't seen a buck since a week before gun season opened. I'm in the Lafayette area.

Saw plenty off 231 driving home from work this morning. Feasting away. Was a little shocked given the temperature. Going out this afternoon, maybe I'll have more to add later

I haven't seen anything. I suspect a lot of it has to to with the 100 acres of standing corn that is still left about 100 yards from our property. Why eat hotdogs when there is steak right next door?

8 hours in the stand yesterday produced one deer sighting. A doe that ran out of the woods while I was eating at the truck.
They've disappear for now, but will be back when muzzleloader comes around.

Woodmaster is hunting the Illinois Wabash bottoms and texted me that they are still chasing over there.
He said the best that he has seen was a 130 class 9 pointer. They have a ton of does over there.. so many does, so little time. Maybe that is why they are still chasing?

Seems like things are just now picking up here in Hamilton county. Two days ago I had two does and a decent buck in the morning. The way he was tailing them showed me signs of rutting activity. Been seeing more deer here now then ever before. The rut is very area specific though, so it's different activity everywhere you go.

Greetings Just as the rut is tailing off is my favourite time to start calling roe, imagine the roe buck thinking it's all over then hearing a doe call Heeeello what's that, oh yes it's my lucky day, duty calls, only to find me waiting for him. Works every time, lol Regards Billy

Opening day at my land in SW IN, I saw all of two (2) deer. No antlers. Unusually low number of shots heard. Far from a 'normal' opener. Second day, more shooting but just one deer seen. Of the three deer seen in two days, two of them were only because they exposed some white hair which stood out against the vegetation.
The dam finally broke open on Monday afternoon with the snow on the ground. Lots of deer moving then. One of them quit moving too. :-)
I'm beginning to think there were deer on the move but I just don't see them because they are camouflaged so well in the hardwood forest. Get some snow background and then they stand right out. The early November snow was a blessing to a hunter like me.

We have had bucks chasing does like they are the only one on the planet on the farm the last couple days. Not sure how long that will last, but I have four days off next weekend to find out.

Evening's better than morning's. Bucks still looking for hot does. This week has been the exact opposite. All deer sightings have been daylight till noon. I get off work at 4.

Been seeing some does in the morning's but all the decent buck's i've been seeing this week have been evening's. Shot a heavy 8 pt last night at 5:00. Sound's like you have a couple hot doe's in area if you are seeing chasing this late?? Hope they score on one of them.
