Hello all, Last Monday a buddy of mine shot and wounded a doe, he couln't tell me how clean of a shot he had by the angle he was at. He was able to find blood and started to track it. My own opinion it wasn't that strong of a blood trail. Couple of drops here and there, wasn't a steady stream or anything. The only time that it seem to bleed a little is when she laid down and even then it wasn't a big pool or anything. The only thing I felt he could of done differently before I was able to join him was to let her lay down and bleed it out for a while.
We eventually lost her tail after about 1.5 miles of tracking her, without knowing where she was hit and all do you think she is now coyote bait or do you think she pulled through. Anyone ever had something like this happen to them before? Thanks

If she went 1.5 mile and was not bleeding that much, she will probably make it, deer are tough critters.

That makes me feel much better, I almost worried myself sick about that and I didn't even wound the deer. I always want a quick and humane kill, as I'm sure most people do.

Probably a brisket or minor muscle hit. I'd say that deer is going to make it.
