Man I am seeing an insane amount of quail this year while running my beagles. I haven't gone out one time and not kicked at least one covey up and numerous times I have kicked multiple coveys up. These are not small coveys either. Most numbering at least 15 birds. Haven't shot any. Just nice to see them.

Two more big coveys out today. Might have to look into getting a couple for dinner sometime. We ran 7 rabbits from 9:00 to 1:00 and when I started back to the truck realized we never left sight of it. No catches today but my b&t male was nipping at his tail before he holed. Got home and had to drag all 4 out of the dog box. Flat beat. Yeah I'd say rabbit numbers are at their 10 year peak.

WOW ~ That is great your Quail population is doing well and recovering from those two winters back in the late 1970's. I haven't shot a Quail since 1976, worse yet I haven't heard one "Bob-White" call in years. I did kick-up one covey of Quail down here in Ky, but that was a couple years ago. I was on my 2-mile walk when I saw them, and in the early fall before hunting season.

That is good news. Always enjoyed hunting those little rockets. Also loved to hear that "Bob-white" whistle.

Kicked another big rooster out yesterday. Man those put and take birds sit tight. Wings smacked my leg as he was flushing. Had the bead on him but unfortunately out of season. Don't look like they killed much during the hunts there. I'd say for cleanup hunts next year Glendale would be the place to be.
