What approach should i take in punching my buck tag yet this year? Ive never done any good in the past once it hits about this time of the season. Ive sit alot of hours this year and have no complaints but id hate another year of tag soup! What can i do to bettet my chances of still putting one down!? Food sources? One of the farms i hunt the farmer left about an acre of beans for me that butts right up to the wood edge, should i sit that? Travel routes? I feek like since i havent connected yet this deep in the season my chances are dwindling just looking for any ideas from you successful late season hunters.

Be patient and wait for the one doe that didn't get breed. She will come back into heat and he will be ready! But the farmer I hunt on did the same thing with the beans. And it proved to be a good spot in the mornings before they hit there beds. But I was doe hunting then.

Food sources late in the year....not sure the date on today's calendar qualifies as late just yet though.
In mz season an unpressured food source can be great hunting. Last December when it was so cold I was able to put my dad in a blind on the edge of a cut bean field and watch the deer pour in. Wasn't unusual to see more tha 30 deer in that field an hour before dark....including numerous mature bucks.

Ive got a spot that the wife and i have hunted maybe 20 times combined. Every sit morning evening it hasnt mattered, weve seen them everytime. Not yet have i seen a buck with them. In fact its been close to a month since ive seen a buck in there. You think theyve came in heat yet and ive just not been there? Same 4 does that come from the same bedding area. Plenty of rubs and scapes though. Ive got 3 what i call quality farms to hunt, when i pick one to hunt i always feel its the wrong one.

We have plenty of season left. In the area I hunt, the late season is generally when I am most productive.

The farm i hunt were the farmer has left beans in ive never seen a deer enter or come from that field. The woods sits a half mile off the road and is surround by id say close to 500 acres of crop fields and fence rows. Never once have i seen a deer in any of the fields and ive hunted this farm for close to 15yrs. The deer do have a trail just inside the woods edge thats beat down year after year. I will say that this woods has been my most productive in my hunting career. Ive always never hunted anywhere close to any of the fields. So i guess what im saying is, im not all that excited about the beans being left because if history repeats itself they wont use them anyway. Any ideas of why deer dont use these feilds much?
