Well now that season for many is winding down or some are just plain old" I am done"!!! we start to talk about many things one is always LTL or OBR or just bucks size age and the like .So a simple answer here would either like to see a traditional 2 buck system back same price tags one in bow and one with gun?? Or an enhanced second buck tag with a hefty price to allow the state to reap some positive cash for the very same deer .Or a AR type second tag say point count or width first buck just whatever buck you want .Or leave it OBR no matter what.
Or just for fun 2 other choices that will be included in the poll.Lets answer this poll with what we really would like not whats is just popular or easiest .This should be fun and we might just learn something about how far some would go to keep others from killing a buck or what it takes to bring the second buck back for many hunters .Enjoy
Also to make it clear the ENFORCE the OBR on all special hunts parks ,mil ref, urban zones ,type hunts means that no extra bucks allowed just one buck states wide period .

FYI I would like to see the second buck back but a higher price tag thus taking some pressure off the selling of antlerless tags and funds for the DNR .FYI for those not in counting that one tag makes more money for the state than a bundle or the sales of 4 deer tags ..And would impact the herd in the least invasive ways and make little dif to the over all buck population.

Hard to say we have a OBR when you can hunt several STATE PARK'S, URBAN ZONE'S and MILIATRY REFUDGE'S and take additional buck's. But I do support the OBR.

Would like the bow and gun back for bucks. Biologists have said over and over it had no great affect on the bucks and the number of hunter who shoot two bucks was low. Just a popularity issue, not biological.

Just a popularity issue, not biological. I understand what you are saying, but I have a feeling what is going to happen is this.... The obr stays, the hpr reg passes, the gun and m/l seasons are eventually shortened and/or moved and the antler less season will be tweaked from year to year. I haven't heard anything, I have zero proof that it is being considered, it is wholly my opinion. But I think that is the future of Indiana deer hunting.

I haven't voted yet, as I'd have to dwell on it some first. If this poll had come pre-crossbow, I'd have been 100% in the 2 buck camp. Now I'm not so sure.

I have heard this as well from the other side .But lets not forget that we all can live without HPRs and we should be using the OBR switch back to two bucks as a bargaining chip in the gun hunting reduction issues .Lets look at this every new rule over the last 15 years has been some sort of compromise .So I say this you had core TDMrs and bow hunters want gun days reduced .... ? Ok but since your all about that weapon thing lets throw it out and .No HPR but lets go back to 2 bucks per season if you want just one week of gun season .Gun hunters are by far the most powerful group of deer hunters in this state .I would not make them too mad "Remember the 1.0 rule " ?? They may just want your bow time and the DNR can not afford to make the deer management hammers too angry .But what is the bow hunters going to do ??Quit ?? Buy less tags ?? No.? Ok I can live without HPR and even OBR but can you bow hunters live with less time in the woods by a long shot ???Thats where this whole thing will end up as big daddy gun hunters put us bow hunters in a time out in the corner one day .JMHO

Dont let xbow slow your roll the number of bucks taken with them vs bow is out ther eand it was more a swap from the bow side to xbow side rather than a bunch of xbow bucks on top the regular yearly buck count if you look at the harvest breakdown and numbers . Antlerless were the ones that took a xbow beating ..LOL

As previosily stated Indiana doesn't really have a one buck rule as ALL HUNTER'S have the opportunity to take additional buck's if they so desire to participate in "urban zone's, "state parks" and "wildlife refuge" hunt's. In addition I believe it take's some pressure off antlered deer, I believe it force's some hunter's to be more selective on the antlered deer they shoot and I believe it help's a few thousand antlered deer each year grow to be a year older. As far as high powered rifle's and crossbow's, I could care less what weapon a hunter choose's to harvest their deer. I am a bowhunter primarily but hunt with firearm if not successful during archery. My thought's are there are just "X" amount of hunter's and by allowing additional weapon's to harvest their deer I don't see a large surge of new hunter's into our sport. Existing hunter's will just opt to use a different weapon to harvest their deer. Yes ALL of Indiana's deer season's are to long IMO and that includes archery. I would personnally like to see archery season shortend by 2 week's and firearm by 1 week and really not sure that crossbow's should be allowed during archery season.

I agree its what you said and its no problem .What we say sometimes is not what we feel but what we beleive or hear . But I would just throw out there the part of the equasion that many here and other places tend to shuffle around and avoid . That one thing is that they do not want to mess to much with the real power base here in our state and the fact is simple .we do not need HPR and before giving up a single thing to the power hungry minority here we can just let it go or wack em where it hurts in thier sport .1.0 showed the slightest hint of gun hunter power in this state and it scared the other side and DNR / NRC as well .Never mess around too much with the guy who just sits back and carries the biggest stick of all .He just might have to swing it .And 1.0 was the perfect case to example of that .

This dead horse again? Number one, no antler restrictions. Antler restrictions do not help get "bigger" bucks and leave smaller bucks on the ground if accidentally shot. At least with OBR you know when you shot your buck you do not shoot another buck. Legally anyways. I am not a big supporter of OBR. But at this point in November when I have seen 6 total deer the entire season. I am not in support of increasing buck or doe harvests.

But at this point in November when I have seen 6 total deer the entire season. I am not in support of increasing buck or doe harvests. FYI I know ARs never work either .. And do you remember when you had lots of deer and plenty of bucks You know what got us there ?? Two buck rule and no bonus doe tags or very few of them anyways .So the true fact is the two buck thing with reduction on Bonus tags would in very short order do exactly the same thing it did in the 1990s early 2000s . The loss of doe in your area that produce more bucks and doe is a direct results of the OBR .The OBR came at the same time the state liberalized antlerless tags and seasons .Coincidence >???Nope they knew hunters would just take out that hunter killer frustration or fill the freezer with those doe rather than continue to buck hunt after the first one ..To take the pressure off the doe herd you simply raise the pressure slightly on the buck herd but over 4 or 5 years that buck pressure is meaningless as the does that live continue to produce even more bucks than they did before because the doe got to live an extra year or two . FYI--- QDMA and TV hunters preaching something that don't work for the vast majority of small land hunters ..Less than 200 acres and that is shoot a doe save a buck make the rut stronger is another reason for herd loss .EHd of coarse .But whats funny is the rut thing never came and big bucks did not spill out of the woodwork in most counties of this state with that approach now hunters scratch their head and wonder why most are the under 40 crowd at that ..FYI those who claim success with the QDM plans have big property and little hunting pressure on that land or around that land .To the man that's a fact . LOL Go back to the rules we had just 15 or 20 years ago and watch the herd grow .Stay where we are and watch the herd die the choice is ours to set here and take it or push the state every chance we can .I played that game and we went from 8 to 3 this year in my county .Chad does listen if the numbers from your county support it then by conveying what you see adds credence to the numbers he sees and he has hunter numbers for that area . Make no wild claims and simply tell him and have other do the same and things will change he does listen if there is some evidence change is needed.

I for one have better deer hunting in my area then 20 yr's ago, 15 yr's ago even 10 yr's ago. Seen as many buck's this season as in any prior season. (Doe herd seems fine as well.) (Shot 2 today) I know you are from the Northern part of state and I'm from the Southern so I guess thing's arn't the same. But I gotta tell you hunting here is as good if not better than it has ever been. And my county is a 8 bonus antlerless and has been for as long as I can remember. I did not hunt 1 set this season where I did not see at least 3 deer and I hunt a lot.
