I'm sure some of you may recall that I had a very special tree. I got permission to hunt a property in 2009, and within a half hour on my very first hunt there, I killed a buck that made the Indiana record book. I never hunted there again the rest of the season. On the very first hunt of the next season, I killed an even larger Indiana record book buck within 2 1/2 hours. So, two awesome bucks in 3 hours combined. Well, not long after that, the neighboring property sold, and they cut Jeep trails all over their property, and the deer hunting took a huge blow. I found a new tree and killed quite a few does from it, but the buck hunting was basically over. This morning, for old time's sake (and because I'm getting desperate for a buck, LOL), I decided to make the hike way back into the brush to my ol' buck tree that had been so good to me in the past. Most of my reflective tacks were missing, so it was difficult finding the tree in that overgrown property. The property had been logged in the past, and is horribly thick. There is one small clear area, which is where my tree is. I backtracked a few times along my footprints in the snow, and finally got oriented enough to find my tree. Imagine my surprise to find the tree as pictured above. I managed to find another tree right at legal shooting light, but it just didn't offer the view of my lucky tree. I didn't see a thing other than squirrels, said goodbye to my tree, and hiked back to the Jeep in the dusting of snow.

You are not alone. I have a tree on my place I used to use with my climber all the time. Took my best archery buck from it. It is dying and I haven't used it the last 2 seasons. I can't find find a climbable tree close enough to that spot either.

I think I'd cry.
I've got a tree I've always called the deer killin tree. Killed my first buck and bow kill from that tree umpteen years ago and still hunt it to this day. Knock on wood, I haven't been skunked a sit in that tree in at least 2 or 3 years that I know. Magical spot
Might just slip back in it before the years over and try to take another doe from it.
