I've cut back on my coffee consumption from eight cup per day to just four per day. While in College, I've have drank two pots of coffee while studying for exams or writing research papers. I never drink soda pop of any kind.

I don't drink much soda or tea. Love black coffee. Drink.1 to 4 travel mugs a day. Depends on what I am doing that day. However with my back problems I have started to not really enjoy the taste of much of anything including coffee. It is a struggle to get one cup down on some days. Not sure if it is the meds or a type of depression or what. Still drink a bit otherwise I am a deal joy to be around! So I am told...

You mention "Meds", which some medications don't mix well with caffeine.

I drink 2 to 4 pots a day depending on the day. It is one of the few thinks I can enjoy that does not make my pants shrink. Almost no soda or alcohol. But I do like to eat. Meat and potatoes the more the marryer

That Mountain Dew is causing you far more harm than coffee ever would, I'd strongly recommend that you have your A-1C level checked soon. I love the Dew too, but had to give it up due to a high A-1C.

I have blood work done pretty frequently for all sorts of things..... started doing that last year. I have cut back dramatically although my diet did go to crap during deer season.

I bounce back and forth between my dew and cherry coke, though I don't drink much of either anymore. The problem with these soft drinks today is that they all contain High Fructose Corn Syrup, besides caffeine. This type syrup can really put the weight on people and will increase one's A1C level in their blood. I haven't had a soft drink in years, but one of my Sisters drinks a diet Tab for Breakfast. www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/a1c-test/basics/definition/prc-20012585
