and it's not from Dairy Queen.
Woke up this morning with about 2 inches of fresh snow that was at 4:00am, now we have about 9 inches of heavy wet blowing snow with more on the way.
Thank God I got my BBQ chicken wings yesterday.
GAME ON!

44* in the southern part of the state....no snow to speak of all year. I'm one of the crazy people who actually like the stuff a few times a year.....

I am starting to believe that the snow has become afraid of coming south of I70.

Had about 4" of heavy wet stuff by noon so I got the tractor started up and cleaned off a few drives around the neighborhood. Now all we're getting is a wet drizzle. Roads may get nasty when the temp drops though Sure is fun throwing snowballs for the dog to try to retrieve

I'm north of dadfsr by about 30 miles. No drizzle, just a heavy wet snow. Probably had a little over 4", since last night. I keep looking at the weather map, and I think the worst may be over, depending on what the wind does tonight. Featherduster, where you located up north?

No snow...warm and rainy, for superbowl Sunday! Same here in Central Kentucky. We had nearly 2 inches of rain and temps in the upper 30's (morning) and topped out at 50* around 4:00 pm EST. Very Windy, with flurries this morning @ 5:22 am and a temp of 33*.

Same here featherduster. Had about 10" by the time I hit the hay last night and at 4am we had 2-3" more. Was very heavy and slushy yesterday which made the shoveling a pain. Glad I was able to stay on top of it though. This morning however, the broom was sufficient enough to get the porches, walkways and car cleaned off. Sat in front of the fireplace with the wife all day yesterday and just enjoyed the time together and watching the snow fall.

I saw on the Indy news that La Porte got 20" of snow. When I talked to family yesterday they said it was like 12" on the flat with more coming, coupled with high winds and brutal cold. A pic from my sisters porch midday Sunday:

We're between Laporte and Rolling Prairie, easy 15-20in and some drifts 3-4ft. Neighbors with tractor and 4-wheeler helped us out. Snow here like this is normal, but usually from lake effect where it is light and fluffy. Another day in the neighborhood.

The Chicago weatherman says that 1 cubic foot of this snow we got yesterday weighs 15 pounds and I believe it. Spent the last 4 hours on my tractor clearing my winding driveway along with 2 other driveways belonging to elderly neighbors. The temps right now are 22 degrees and not much in the way of traffic.

Most of the roads are plowed out. I went out and drove around to see how they were and found a mile stretch of road they have not plowed yet. The kid came out in me and I decided to try it. All I can say is thanks for four wheel drive, I was white knuckled before I got through it. Had the engine compartment packed tight when I got home. That was a looooong mile.

I try to wait it out anymore, use common sense, and act my age, ie LAZY. A long hunting season, truck mechanic working outside often, and firewood slave has wore me out when the cold and snow comes. I prefer to watch from the window anymore. Now off to work to see what excitement awaits. Yippee.
