So they limit hunting rabbits is 5 a day. Is that the legal limit when trapping them also? Is there a limit when trapping them?

The administrative rule sets the dates and bag limit for 'taking' rabbits. The bag limit is 5 no matter the method used. If you trap 2, you can shoot 3. If you trap 5, you are at your daily limit. I posted the administrative rule as well as the definition of 'take' as it pertains to your question. let me know if you have further questions.
312 IAC 9-3-16 Cottontail rabbits Authority: IC 14-10-2-4; IC 14-22-2-6 Affected: IC 14-22 Sec. 16. (a) An individual may take eastern cottontail rabbits (Sylvilagus floridanus) from November 1 through February 28 of the following year. (b) An individual may take not more than five (5) eastern cottontail rabbits per day.
