Plenty been going on .... from the Clinton email scandal, the Republican field just now starting to take shape, Obama and nuke deals and our own states regression back to the 60's with the passage of our very own RFRA ..... yet no discussions on any of it.
Makes me sad.

On the RFRA...... I always thought you could refuse service to anyone!!! Guess I was wrong... It only white males you can refuse service to....SMH
IMO .... This has turned into a GAY right issue!!!
All this started over a wedding cake for a gay couple!!! Bakery said were not making it ..... And the beat goes on!!

You can refuse service to anyone ... you just cant refuse that service for any reason. You can refuse to make a cake for someone because they are an a$$hole but you cant refuse to make a cake for someone because they are White. Or Straight. Or Black. Or gay. Or Muslim. Or Christian. Or any other protected class.
But we can now .... at least until a case makes its way through the courts and lands at the feet of those 9 in black robes. Or until Pence caves from the pressure and changes the law or adds specific protections that are missing from our law.

IMO..... This bill is for all groups not just some!!
The Bakey had a "religious" belief and that should be honored also.......we shall see!!!
BTW...... Pence for President ....This has been rumored!!!

Im not sure what it is about bakeries but there have been many cases nationwide that have made the news ..... in a perfect world if a service provider did not want to provide that service, for any reason, the person seeking the service would go elsewhere. But that is not the case. 50 years ago the blacks could have just gone to a different diner but they didnt .....
Personally I am a capitalist .... I would serve anyone that puts money in my pocket. That last part is important.

Not sure if Dinners & Blacks fit in here...
IMO it wasn't about religious beliefs back then!!!

In your opinion ....
Getting the heebie-jeebies over homosexuality isnt limited to religious folks now .... but agnostic or atheist bakery owners arent allowed to discriminate .... only folks who do so in the name of their "God".
Dont really matter to me .... Itll be short lived IMO.

If someone from the LGBTXYZ community needs something, I'd be happy to make a profit off them. But, if I refuse to do business with that person for any reason and they cry foul because all of a sudden I hurt their feelings, I don't think the government should be able to shove it down my throat. His lifestyle, his choice. My religion/beliefs, my choice.

Its usually a jury of your peers that shoves it down your throat.

You guys are inspiring. I have a new business idea. The problem is too many options. I could make cake figurines, but only have one mold which connects the man and woman. This way the bakery can say that their vendor only supplies one figurine.
Simple fix money maker.

How long before some neo-nazis go into a bakery and order a cake in the shape of a swastika, and sue the bakery for not making one ?

How long before some neo-nazis go into a bakery and order a cake in the shape of a swastika, and sue the bakery for not making one ? let's shave our heads, go in as a gay neo-nazi couple. We could make a fortune! I've trying to think of ways to supplement my fixed income.

Pence has said he is going to "fix" the law. My opinion, too many laws to begin with. Free to be an idiot and obsess over what people do in their lives or we can be free to see people as human not a sexual orientation (or any color). Either way, if I was a businessman, I would go by the old "the customer is always right".

If you owned a gun shop, how would you feel about selling AR-15's to Muslims? If you owned a surgical device firm and had strong anti abortion beliefs, how would you feel about selling your wares to an abortion clinic?

Why would it matter which God a person prayed to? As long as their money was green and they were responsible gun owners who could pass the NICS check. We as gun owners always say dont blame the gun when folks do crazy things yet some are very quick to blame a religion when folks do crazy things. Going strictly by statistics I would say, considering 70-80% of Americans consider themselves Christians, I am far more likely to be harmed by a Christian than a Muslim.
Tenring - there was a case in Colorado, at a bakery strangely enough, where a customer asked that "God Hates Gays" be written on cupcakes and the owner refused and was sued.

Either way, if I was a businessman, I would go by the old "the customer is always right". I could do with one more law .... change the laws regarding who is responsible for legal costs in civil lawsuits. Bring a frivolous lawsuit and lose then you are responsible for both sides legal costs. That just might stop some of the legal nonsense.

Hello steiny, It looks like you've been around a while, but not sure that I've ever talked with you. I like your point.

Reading through this thread concerning the mess your Governor Pence got himself into. I have a strong suspicion that the Democrats are trying to discredit Pence so he'll be a one term Governor. They did the same thing to my friend Richard Mourdock, concerning abortion, back when he was running for the Senate in 2012. Democrats will stop at nothing in order to discredit or mislead the voters by distorting the facts.
