Soil temp was 51 degrees yesterday. Moisture content was still low though. I have always heard 50 degrees is when mushrooms will start popping up, but there needs to be enough moisture...I bet within a week we will start seeing some Trophy Paradise Habitat Consulting "Trophies are built from the ground up" www.facebook.com/trophyparadise

I went to check on my best spot yesterday and it had 2 foot of standing water covering most of it. We got another 1-1/2" rain last night when the storm went through. I need several days of sunshine and a 12" water pump. A few from last year.

I was looking around some of my spots yesterday coming back from turkey scouting (toms were two properties away!). The mayapples are just now starting to pop through in my woods-I've never really found anything before they have fully leafed out....which may only be another week.
I'm sure I'll be looking a little harder next weekend during my turkey scouting trips!!!

Been seeing LOTS of big, white mushrooms posted on Facebook the last few days. I found 13 in a little patch yesterday and want to get back out after work tomorrow to search for more.
Good luck all!!

Probably just took my last mushroom hike a few minutes ago. Found 30 or so that we're fresh and many, many more that should have been picked several days ago. I think the end is near for my woods.
Been a great spring though. Took right around 400 out myself and will find out how many a friend from work picked when I go back to work Friday.

Been a great spring though. Took right around 400 out myself and will find out how many a friend from work picked when I go back to work Friday. I found 33 more white mushrooms last night. One woods looked like everyone in the area had tromped through there even flattening a bunch of mayapples. Only found 5 in that woods. Headed to another that had produced really well in the past and found the rest after getting way back in there, but I saw several footprints in there, too. I was also thinking the same thing about the season quickly coming to a close in southern Indiana.

218 grays and small yellows this AM in 2 hours. Hoping the 200 or so yellows I also saw (and assume I did not see all of them there) just now peeking out of the ground are still there Monday.
Probably will go back tomorrow too because I never got more than 125 yards from the truck and never got to the second of 2 woods there that is normally the best of the two.
Been a LONG time since Ive gotten into big messes of them. Fried eggs and mushrooms for breakfast tomorrow but I need to catch some fish to go with some as well.
God Bless
