The government already dictates that medical r cords be computerized. With a court order (for now) they can look at any of our records and see if we have been prescribed any mind altering drugs for any reason. Then come the gun grab...

This might make a few people go postal.
I started taking antidepressants after my daughter was sexually molested 15 years ago, but never wanted to kill anyone... and I think I'm crazy, but crazy don't know crazy, so I can't be crazy. LOL
I'm wondering what all they will include in their med list. Many cops may have to stop taking their med to keep their jobs, and we know this would be a bad thing.

It's obviously a divisive topic, but putting the politics aside for a moment, it's a very tough call. No one wants to be legally or morally responsible should someone commit a terrible act of violence. As such, the impulse is to err on the side of caution. However, there are of course unintended consequences.
How many people are out there struggling, but won't seek help because they know the possible implications of being diagnosed with a mental illness and how far that label can follow them?
It's a tough balancing act and nothing prevents rational discussion more than strong feelings...

How many illnesses are "diagnosed" now that weren't before a pharmaceutical company developed a "treatment" for it.
Life is hard. Slow down, calm down, lean on your friends, cherish the good and leave the negative behind.

Somebody help me out here - the plan is to keep guns away from the mentally incompetent, right? Fox News ran a headline of taking guns away from Social Security recipients, trying to mislead people. While I don't trust Obama, Isn't keeping guns away from the mentally incompetent something we all want? The VA already does this.
I was a representative payee for two different family members in years past. They could live on their own, only if supervised and assisted by other family members, and I guarantee you we would never have let either one of them anywhere near a gun. My uncle lived for years in a small place behind my dad's house, he would use the riding mower, watch tv, sit on the porch, read, whatever. Happy as a clam most of the time.
If you took him out to a restaurant, he might just say "this tastes like s###!" and throw a plate at the waitress.
Some people are just not wired up right.

If you took him out to a restaurant, he might just say "this tastes like s###!" and throw a plate at the waitress. Some people are just not wired up right. What I'm afraid of is that they'll go too far as part of their ultimate agenda, and take them away from anyone taking an antidepressant. I should be the poster boy against this. I got my first gun permit when I was 18 years old, just because I could. I was absolutely clueless what depression was until I was 40 years old. If I ever had a depressed day, I sure don't remember it. I can only express my situation as people may experience different levels of depression. My doctor told me that depression can occur from long term exposure to a difficult situation or a sudden tragedy. Mine was a sudden tragedy compounded by years of extreme stress dealing with the ramifications of my daughter being sexually molested. It took a few months before, suddenly, it felt like I had just taken a step and fell into an abyss of mental agony, falling into a bottomless pit of hopeless doom where fear did not exist. This lasted for years. I eventually ended up in a stress center. Two weeks after I left my wife, I was released from all counseling therapy, but continued to take an antidepressant to this day. Eighty percent of people are able to stop taking them. For some reason, 20% of people's brain never makes the proper amount of serotonin ever again. At no point during my trial did I ever think about taking revenge on anyone, hurting anyone, even the perpetrator. I did however, give all my guns to a friend for safe keeping... for years. There would be no reason to take away my concealed carry license.

They want to take them all from everyone - any excuse. The time has come to throw these "Gun Grabbing" politicians out-of-office. As when they were elected or appointed, they took an "OATH-OF-OFFICE" to protect and defend the Constitution & The Bill Of Rights with includes the Second Amendment. They are NOT doing their job or abiding to their oath-of-office, therefore they are breaking the law, and should be impeached or serve time in prison for High Treason!!
