Does anyone know if you will be able to open carry in this one? I remember a couple years ago, a couple buddies and myself made a day trip to the location in Hammond. My friend was open carrying and they told him to take his gun back outside to his truck. Maybe because it was Hammond, and they think like Chicagoons?

That place was packed this morning as you'd expect. I went back a few hours later because I wasn't about to wait behind all those folks to get in, and the checkout lines we wrapping around the entire store 2 1/2 hours after opening. No thanks! I'll go back in a few days when the deals will still be around but all the chaos wont be

I had the same thought but technically it's still Indiana.

It was a mass of humanity.

These new Cabelas stores are much smaller than the stores that have been around awhile. It's more cost effective for Cabelas to have more smaller stores than a few big stores. So the future of places like Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops is probably going to be to put up smaller stores, that way they can have more stores in more places.

I was there at 7am and was one of the first 500 had a good time in line chatting with fellow hunters, and liars. And of course the one guy who shot a deer with a bow at 60 yards and couldnt find it.
I ended up with a $25 gift card. Overall it was a good time, the store was fine by me. Probably 3000 people in line. And they let all of them in the store at once. Thought for sure they would limit the amount of people in there.

Fiance wasn't impressed at all with the waterfowl section. He said it looked like the store was trying to cater to people who want to pretend to be outdoorsman and don't want to get dirty, but that's kind of what I expected with the location they picked. He had enough when he went to the boating section and asked where the layout boats were and the salesman didn't have a clue what he was talking about. It's sad but Gander Mountain has more selection then Cabela's and is a much shorter drive with less traffic. Guess it's back to online shopping again for us.
On the plus side we can save on shipping by having large items delivered to the store for pickup so there is that at least.

Me and my wife went there tonight after dinner tonight. It's okay, but nothing spectacular. After being to the larger stores in Hammond and Wheeling, West Virginia, it pales in comparison a little.
The store is one floor and they have a mountain and a good number of mounts. Despite being smaller, still had a good selection and I picked up a new hunting knife.

If you make the trip,a block away. Tusconos Brazilian restaurant has a good buffet that's about$15 for lunch. In addition to the paramasan loin , the apricot fish is great! Good value imho.

You ever been to Fogo de Chao? If so, how does it compare? I've never been. My buddy says it's not as good but a better value. I went for my birthday and was very pleased. Another good buffet on the way out there is the Journey. They have the best sushi on a buffet that I know of.

Actually, The Journey is where we went to dinner last night beforehand. I was so stuffed I wasn't sure I'd be able to walk around Cabela's.

It's hit or miss on the crab legs there. Last night was definitely hit. It was Saturday night so they were going through them at a good rate and they weren't soggy from sitting in hot water.
