I and my co-worker passenger were on our way to our third shift jobs when a huge doe passed through the headlight beams. Right as I wondered where the other deer was it appeared, way too close. I barely tapped the brakes and "BANG!" The small buck was sent skidding back out of the lights. I pulled over, no doubt cursing, as the driver's tire rubbed on something. I surveyed the damage with an LED light that plugs into my dash ( handy as a second leg, that thing ) as my passenger took the opportunity to burn a cheap cigarette. The metal was pretty crinkled and the fender hung on by a few screws. A stalactite of melted rubber hung from the bumper that had been forced back into the tire. A turn signal was busted, and an astonishing spray of greenish deer pellets went all the way to the mirror. A sheriff's deputy appeared as if by magic. "Thought I was going to have to shoot that one," he remarked with more than a little disappointment in his voice. "But it died." He noted the shotgun blast of poop with amusement and then scribbled out a permit for me. I took my passenger home so his dad could run him to work while I tended to bambi. As I drove the wind caught the fender flare and it went out at a right angle like the warning stick on a school bus. Note the ticks on the deer's ears. Most were black-legged ticks. Very few were on the blood-rich antlers. (There must be a reason for that I've either not heard or forgotten ) As for the damage pics, everything to the right of the Jeep emblem was this deer. The grille was a different deer. The duck tape ( Use number 15,102!) temporarily held the fender on until I could remove it.

I think you made out pretty good. It can be really bad as you know. It looks like he went home with you.
I saw a sign on FB that read: Warning Deer Suicide Area.

That stinks. At least it left some "proof" on your jeep for you to show your boss why you were late. The back of its ears look like he has scratched them raw trying to get the ticks off. Looks like the hair has been worn off.
The last deer I hit was in the wife's PT cruiser. It did a good amount of damage. That was #8 for me.

So far I've only got two. The first one was on I65 south of Greenwood. Hit him doing about 80. Totaled the Taurus. Hood, bumper, windshield, quarter panel, both driver's side doors. It broke the mirror off, shattered the driver's window, and sprayed us (my pregnant wife was with me) with glass. Never found the deer.
The next one I hit with my truck - while I was on my way to go hunting - and the only damage it did was to crack one of the the fog light mounts. That 8 point buck was crippled in the ditch, and was quickly dispatched.

I bet cops hit a lot of deer since they're on the road a lot.

One of my bosses here at work says that he has hit 9 deer all with the same truck and has yet to do any work to it. F-150 late 90's model. As he is an avid hunter I don't think he has hunted and shot a deer for last several years. Just thought someone might like to know incase you were looking for a nearly indestructible truck as it has been working out fine for him.
